Why you should hire a pro-photographer for your wedding day.

If your wedding day is just around the corner, then you have probably planned most of what you need to plan. The venue is all booked and planned, the cake is being made and your catering is sorted. You have chosen your wedding theme colours, selected your flowers and your wedding gown is hung up and ready to go.

You’re now planning on the best way to achieve the quality photographs your big day deserves. Perhaps you are considering the option of asking a relative to bring their amateur photography skills to your wedding.

The savings you make on the wedding photography costs could be handy in other areas. This is certainly not the way to go.

Key benefits of hiring wedding photography professionals

Having hired a professional wedding photographer in East, you are assured of the highest quality images, created and edited using the best expertise, cameras and photo editing software.

The professional wedding photographer you hire in East will be able to capture fantastic images with their skill, state-of-the-art cameras and equipment and edited to a superb standard using the latest software.

The equipment that wedding photographers use goes far beyond the camera, which is only a part of what it takes to achieve the quality photography you need at your wedding. But for many, who perceive that smartphone cameras are amazing, it is really tempting to try and cut costs on your wedding photography. This is a big mistake. Everyone desires photographs that are skillfully composed and expertly captured for their wedding day. I’ll explain some of these benefits in greater detail, to help you understand the value in paying a professional wedding photographer for the day in East.

A detailed knowledge of their camera equipment and how to deal with variable lighting conditions. A photographerís resultant images will not be as impressive as they could be if they don’t have a variety of camera lenses and the knowledge and skills to use them, together with various lighting options. A professional wedding photographer is preferred because of their skill, expertise and also the equipment they use. Although DSLR cameras are available to anyone, it takes experience and proficiency to capture the best possible photos and get the most out of any camera. The skill of the person taking the photos is highly important, but they also need the right equipment to produce top results. The ideal situation is that you have an expert photographer who can use top of the range equipment to its full potential. The lighting available at your venue, in the church and outside the church or in any other outdoor setting will vay markedly; it takes skill and appreciation to consistently take great photos in different lighting situations.

The Role of the Photographer

One other very good reason to hire a professional wedding photographer in East, instead of using a relative, is that theyíre less likely to become distracted. The role of the professional photographer is very clearly defined, whereas a family member will likely want to get involved in the celebrations where possible.

A professional photographer wonít be tempted to chat with guests, grab a quick beer, or be first in line for cake when they should be taking an important shot. Every moment theyíre there, their focus will be on unobtrusively capturing the best possible images that they can of the event.

Something else that is a factor is that wedding guests tend to respect photo opportunities much more when they are gently marshalled by professional photographers. When family members organise a photo session, or an ad hoc photo opportunity, thereís a different dynamic to when a photographer sets up a professional shoot.

Diverse Styles of Photography

In order to get a specific photographic style, you need a professional photographer whose style matches what youíre looking for. How many amateurs do you think are even aware of the differences between fine art, contemporary, traditional, or photojournalistic photography styles?

Are you certain that theyíre going to be able to provide you with the photos that you dream of? Often, this is not the case. Donít rush into a decision; think about the style you want and get a photographer that can match it. Once you have a style in mind, hire a photographer that can picture what it is you want.

Communication Skills and Timeliness

There are lots of other reasons to choose a professional wedding photographer rather than choosing a relative, friend or enthusiast to take your photos. You shouldnít underestimate the wealth of experience the professional brings in dealing with the various challenges of the big day.

A professional photographer will be able to communicate effectively with your guests and keep the photo sessions flowing, by effectively getting people where they need to be. They will be able to use signals and body language, as well as their voice, to get people where they need to be in a pleasant way, enhancing the atmosphere of your celebration in East. Amateur photographers find it incredibly difficult to maintain the necessary distance, humour, intimacy and support along with effectively communicating to get the perfect shot.

You Get More with Professional Wedding Photographers

Thereís no person youíll be spending more time with on your wedding day than your photographer. The wedding photographer will take the initial shots during the day as you get ready and even travel to the church and will stay with you throughout the day and maybe until you leave for home or honeymoon.

Your wedding photographer remains with you throughout every special moment of the day, capturing memories and blending into the background. If a photographer knows what theyíre doing, they wonít be noticed throughout the day. The photographer is the one who notices every detail out of place such as lipstick stains on the teeth, or wonky button holes etc.

They will be there to inform you of this and help you try to fix it. The planner of your wedding will be with you for far less of the day in East than your photographer will. The photographer will ensure that the wedding party are at the right place at the right time and calm everyone throughout any anxious or emotional moments.

A Patient Temperament

As a couple, you need to hire a professional photographer that you are comfortable with. Youíre going to be spending a lot of time with this person on your wedding day. You want to be happy that you made the right decision.

The photographer should have a great mix of patience, empathy and skills of persuasion, as well as technically superb. Your personality needs to be captured through the lens and itís their job to help you to be at ease throughout the day in East. Rarely does a wedding go exactly to plan and a wedding photographer should always remain calm and in control throughout the day. An expert wedding photographer is flexible and goes with the flow of the event, while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

Your Wedding Photographer and What to Expect?

In many cases the day of the wedding is the first time people are in front of a professionalís camera. If you donít like the way you look in photographs, this can prove to be a fairly stressful situation.

Having invested some time to choose the right wedding photographer, you can be assured that they will do certain things to make the process less stressful.

Theyíll Be There on Time and Be Professional

After looking at a photographer based on their reputation, the passion for their work and their portfolio of previous work, you can feel comfortable that you will have hired someone who is professional. Itís important that the wedding photographer you choose gets there on time, has a great attitude and gets on with people. Your photographer should arrive early on the day, to scout the location having probably visited relevant locations several times already.

Wedding Day Rehearsal (The day before)

In many cases, church wedding ceremonies have a rehearsal during the week before the wedding. Your photographer may want to attend this to check the location and to have a brief discussion with the Vicar about where to stand during the service. If you choose to have a civil ceremony, then it will most likely be a chat with a registrar on the day of the wedding in East.

Wedding Day (The big day)

Your photographer will arrive at the agreed time to capture the bridal presentations. You will have his undivided attention for the whole day, but without interrupting in any way. Itís crucial to the team at Jeff Woodall photography that every precious memory is captured on camera and that we remain unobtrusive, so the day can play out naturally; we are of course available for any questions and we strive to raise the spirits of everyone in the party. Jeff Woodall photography prides itself on its ability to remain unobtrusive but to always be available for questions and to keep spirits high, ensuring that no beautifully precious moment is lost.

Your wedding photographer will have a discussion with you sometime after the first dance to find out if you need any more precious moments captured. If you decide to call it a day, the photographer will start their backup process. Every photo will be stored on a reliable backup storage device and kept safe until such a time as the photos have been through the full editing process and have been delivered to you to your satisfaction. We understand just how precious your photographs are to you.

Editing Wedding Photographs

Editing is a crucial stage in the wedding photography process and will be completed within the days that follow the event in East. The photographs need to tell the story of the wedding day and so the first stage is going through all the pictures and selecting the best ones. The editing of the digital photographs then begins with a light touch approach that ensures a subtle process of enhancement.

The images provided to clients by Jeff Woodall photography are always high resolution. The pictures that require a little work are edited for colour balance and size. Some of the pictures may be converted to monochrome and other style filters may be applied to further enhance the overall effects of your images.

When the editing process is complete, the photos are exported from the suite of editing tools and the files uploaded to an online password protected gallery for viewing and also uploaded to a USB stick; you can then distribute the photos as you want and share on social media. If you want to share access to your wedding photos on your own online gallery, weíll give you instructions on how to do so, as well as providing a high-definition backup of all your photos on a USB stick.

Follow-up client support

Jeff Woodall photography will be available for everything else you need; to talk about albums, or the types of bespoke wedding photo books that can be designed for you. You probably have decided beforehand whether you wish to opt for a digital photo book album, the styles and colours etc., but it won’t be a short time after the ceremony that you decide which images you would like it to contain.

80 images is around the number you should be looking to choose, but your photographer will guide you on this. Your photographer then goes about the task of designing the album.

Below is a list of the what is included in a wedding photography package. Some of the items you’ll need to make some careful decisions about, whereas others take care of themselves. How many events you want photographed.

How many hours you want the photographer for the shoot in East

Each assignment a photographer takes is normally broken down into a number of hours. Each wedding is individual, with exact timings that differ and ad hoc things that happened during the day and so we work a little differently on wedding packages in order to remain flexible.

Many photographers (and I used to) offer a range of packages in East, such as ëPlatinumí, ëGoldí, ëSilveríand ëBronzeí. This way of doing things can get over complicated and even more so when additional options and extras are added to the mix. I now prefer to work on a fixed price for the full day’s coverage. I won’t question doing an extra hour here or there. We know you don’t want to have an extra hour billed after the event, just because your schedule fell behind and the eight hours you paid for in the ëSilver packageí didn’t cover the full day. For wedding ceremonies that involves travelling, the travel expenses for flights, fuel, food, refreshments and accommodation would need to be subject to negotiation with the client.

Different Styles and How They’re Different

Fine Art Photography

In the same way that photographers of a photojournalistic genre don’t tend to take traditional shots very often, fine arts photographers rarely do either. Rather, their pictures are captured through an artistic appreciation of events, elements and people, accented with the use of stunning lighting. Typically, a fine art photographer in East is highly skilled at creating and staging photos that are artistic and beautifully full of drama, applying filters to photos during editing, including often using monochrome conversions.

Vintage Style Photography

Vintage photo filters have become quite popular over the last decade and has resulted in more demand for this style of photography. More and more couples are choosing vintage wedding photography as their wedding style for their photographs. This style of photography can evoke feelings of nostalgia and the old and timeless nature of that style really seems to appeal to people. Vintage photography in East is regarded as almost an art form, where the ordinary is transformed into stunning evocative images using colour filters and specialist lighting.

Traditional or Classical

With traditional or classical photography, details of shots are considered staged, even those that you may think look spontaneous. Although the photographs won’t feel overly posed or artificial, you probably won’t get many action shots in the wedding album. The wedding ceremony will be captured with the aim of taking pictures that are artistic and functional, but perhaps driven less by drama or emotion.

Photojournalistic or Reportage

Photojournalism looks to record moments on camera, rather than orchestrating specific staged shots. The formal shots you would expect at every wedding, will be captured, as well as group and individual ëgrip and griní wedding guest shots. The photo journalistic photographer tends not to orchestrate moments and poses but would rather look to capture the genuinely spontaneous action and close up reactions of guests and the wedding couple.

Black and White (Monochrome)

This style is excellent for timeless, classical, emotion-packed photographs. Although many people prefer colour images, others appreciate how removing that colour and by the skillfully use of post processing techniques, really create pictures that are packed with atmosphere. It’s all about preference. Not everyone prefers monochrome images, but there’s no doubt that photographs can be made more compelling by emphasising areas of focus and the composition with this method. Black and white photographs have the capacity to really enhance the atmosphere of an image, that is sometimes lost in the colour option.

Colour Popped and HDR Techniques

Attention to detail during the shoot and excellent editing skills are required for this type of photography technique. This technique of photography [ HDR / colour popped] involves picking the right scenes and the right processing software to create highly appealing photographs with colours that pop and stunning detail that is striking for the viewer.
