Main Reasons Wedding Photography Is Important.

Planning your wedding day is an involved process and hiring a wedding photographer may not initially be at the top of your priority list.

You should invest some time in planning your wedding photography though. You need to get a photographer booked well in advance and have a clear budget for your wedding images. It is vitally important that you hire a wedding photographer you can trust to capture the day with skill and expertise. Your wedding photos and your wedding album will come out in the future with friends, family, children and grandchildren to help you tell the story of the day.

You’ll turn to your wedding photos many times in the future, recapturing the precious memories of that special day. When your wedding day is over, your bridal shoes and gown will go into storage, the flowers will wither and be cleared away and the wedding cake will have been eaten. but importance needs to be placed on your wedding images, because they will be with you forever, to browse through and perfectly recapture those emotions from your wedding day.

Why a professional photographer is the right choice for your wedding

The planning for your wedding day is probably almost done if your wedding is coming up soon. You’ve planned the catering side of things, chosen the cake and booked the venue. You have chosen your wedding theme colours, selected your flowers and your wedding gown is hung up and ready to go.

You now intend to plan the best way to ensure that the photographs do complete justice to your special day. Your uncle is a good amateur photographer and perhaps you’re considering asking him.

It wouldn’t cost you anything and you can save yourself some money to budget for other things. You should definitely not go down this path.

Your wedding photos should be entrusted to a professional wedding photographer

The benefits you get when you hire a photographer with significant experience of weddings are much greater than the monetary savings you’ll make when you get the photos taken for free. There are dozens of special moments that happen on your wedding day and in a flash they’re gone and forgotten if not captured in your photos.

The benefits of having an expert wedding photographer

Having hired a professional wedding photographer, you are assured of the highest quality images, created and edited using the best expertise, cameras and photo editing software.

Using their knowledge and skills, together with camera and equipment of superior technology and editing with the latest software, your wedding photographer will be able to produce beautiful and unique images that will make your day..

The cameras are just part of the equation when it comes to taking fantastic photographs. But for many, who perceive that smartphone cameras are amazing, it is really tempting to try and cut costs on your wedding photography. This could probably be one of the biggest mistakes you make. Everyone desires photographs that are skillfully composed and expertly captured for their wedding day. Let’s delve deeper into what a professional wedding photographer in Lindfield can bring to your wedding day and how they add value.

Knowledge with the latest camera equipment and the use of it in varying situations. A wedding photographer will not be able to produce superior pictures in all conditions if they don’t have the lenses for the situation, the lighting options, or don’t have the skill to use them. Professional wedding photographers normally bring to the table a lot more skill, knowledge and equipment that they can use. Anyone can buy a DSLR camera, but it takes great skill to unlock the potential of the equipment. The type of equipment used is crucial, but just as if not more important, is the person handling the equipment. The ideal scenario is that you have the best equipment available and a highly skilled professional photographer to be able to get the most out of it. The skill of the photographer includes being able to take great photos in diverse lighting scenarios, depending on the weather, or the lighting at the wedding event venues.

The Role of the Photographer

One other very good reason to hire a professional wedding photographer, instead of using a relative, is that they’re less likely to become distracted. A relative will likely expect to enjoy the day and become part of it, whereas a professional photographer will know that their role is very clearly defined.

Wedding_Olde_Bell_Hurley

A professional photographer won’t be tempted to chat with guests, grab a quick beer, or be first in line for cake when they should be taking an important shot. They will be concentrating on the job of getting the best possible pictures they can for your wedding.

Another thing to bear in mind is that wedding guests tend to respond to photoshoots better when they are being arranged by professional wedding photographers. When family members are taking control of a family photo session it tends to be taken less seriously.

Skill with Different Styles of Photography

If you want a specific style of photography, you should hire a professional photographer whose style matches yours. If you asked the majority of amateur photographers what the difference is between fine art, contemporary, traditional or photojournalistic photography styles, most wouldn’t have a clue.

Are you willing to gamble that theyíre able to produce the pictures that you will treasure? Often, this is not the case. Take a bit of time to understand what it is you want and then hire a photographer that can deliver that style. Once you have in mind what you want to achieve, hire a professional who gets it.

Communication and Reliability

A professional photographer is normally a much better choice than an amateur photographer or enthusiast and weíve already touched on a few other reasons so far. Itís easy to understate how a professional photographer can contribute to the day; blending into the background when necessary and getting involved to smooth the schedule and push things along when time is getting tight.

A professional wedding photographer will have the communication skills to organise groups, move people and find out exactly what you want throughout the day. They will use their voice and body language to encourage people to where they need to be, persuasively getting things done and enhancing rather than detracting from the celebration of your special day. Amateur photographers find it incredibly difficult to maintain the necessary distance, humour, intimacy and support along with effectively communicating to get the perfect shot.

Professional Wedding Photographers Are a Better Choice

You spend more time with your wedding photographer than anyone else on your wedding day. The wedding photographer will take preamble shots at the start of the day, shots at the venue, pictures at the reception and perhaps even pictures as you leave the venue at the end of the day.

From the start of the day to the end of the day, your wedding photographer will be around you, capturing every special moment without intruding on your day. The best wedding photographers are practically invisible, until you need a photo taken. The photographer is the one who notices every detail out of place such as lipstick stains on the teeth, or wonky button holes etc.

Your photographer will help you try and fix anything that could spoil a quality photo. Your wedding planner will not be your shadow all day, but your photographer will. The photographer will help the wedding party be where they need to be, when they need to be and to be as calm as they should be.

The Epitome of Patience

As a wedding couple, you should engage the services of a wedding photographer that helps you feel comfortable. Think about the number of hours you will be with this one person on your special day. You donít want to spend all that time second-guessing your decision.

The wedding photographer should be technically excellent, patient, empathetic and a great planner. They need to flow with you and help the lens to capture your personality at its best throughout your special day. Even if things donít go exactly to plan, the wedding photographer will remain in control, calm and measured, as a reassuring presence. The best wedding photographers flow with the event, are flexible and adaptable with the images they capture, whilst always maintaining professional standards.

What to Expect When You Hire a Wedding Photographer?

For a lot of wedding couples, their wedding day is the first time a professional wedding photographer has their camera lens pointed at them. As well as being anxious about the big day, having a camera pointed at you all day can make you feel even more uncomfortable, especially if you feel that photos donít generally flatter you.

If you have spent a bit of time selecting the right wedding photographer for you, the photographer in Lindfield will do a few things in order to make the process better.

A Professional Attitude and Good Time Keeping

If you hire people for the right reasons, such as their passion, reputation and having looked at their work, professionalism will be a given. You want your wedding photographer to get on with the guests, to have an excellent attitude towards time keeping and to dress in a suitable manner for your wedding. Your photographer should arrive early on the day, to scout the location having probably visited relevant locations several times already.

Rehearsing for the Wedding Day (The day before)

It is customary for church wedding ceremonies to have a rehearsal a few days before the big day. Your photographer may want to find out from the Vicar where they should stand during the vows and which vantage points wedding photographers normally use in the church. This discussion normally happens on the day of the wedding, with the registrar, in the case of a civil ceremony.

The Wedding

Your photographer will be there to take pictures of bridal presentations, or at whatever time you have agreed beforehand. He will remain with you for the whole day, without interrupting, obstructing or in any way affecting the flow of the day. Jeff Woodall photographyís ethos is to be very subtle, at staying in the background without interrupting the day, but being available to keep spirits high and answer any difficult questions, making sure that every single memory is captured in digital format. The goal at Jeff Woodall photography is to ensure that every precious moment is captured, but to remain unobtrusive and in the background until such a time as you have questions to answer, or you need some help.

Sometime after the first dance, your wedding photographer will have a conversation with you to find out whether there are any more pictures that you would like taken. The backup process will begin once your photographer has completed their work. All the photos will be fully backed up by Jeff Woodall photography, on 2 hard drives and the backups will be kept save until all wedding photos have been edited and delivered to you. Your photographs are as important to us as they are to you.

Wedding Photo Editing

Editing the images is an important part of preparing your wedding photography package, completed in the days after the wedding event in Lindfield. The first step is to select the best images that tell the story of your wedding. The selected photographs go through a light touch approach that enhances them subtly.

The images that are captured by Jeff Woodall photography are always crisp and sharp. Some editing work is carried out as required, mainly consisting of colour balancing and cropping where necessary. Style filters may be applied to some of your wedding images to create a specific look and some will be converted to black and white.

The images are then exported and uploaded to an online password protected gallery, ready to be viewed by you, your friends and family as you wish. You will also be given all high resolution images on a USB stick. If you want to share access to your wedding photos on your own online gallery, we’ll give you instructions on how to do so, as well as providing a high-definition backup of all your photos on a USB stick.

Client support - follow-up

Jeff Woodall photography will be available for everything else you need; to talk about albums, or the types of bespoke wedding photo books that can be designed for you. You probably have decided beforehand whether you wish to opt for a digital photo book album, the styles and colours etc., but it won’t be a short time after the ceremony that you decide which images you would like it to contain.

You’ll probably be asked to pick your favorite 80 photographs that depict the story of your day and you can ask your photographer any questions to guide you on this. Your photographer then begins the design work to create your stunning album.

How much time you want for the shoot in Lindfield

Typically, a photographer will work out pricing based on the number of hours they need to put into any assignment. With weddings, we understand that exact timings and schedule are very individual and that they need to go with the flow of your day. We need to be flexible and so we tend to take a different approach to pricing our wedding packages.

You are probably familiar with photographers offering Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze wedding packages. This way of doing things can get over complicated and even more so when additional options and extras are added to the mix. I now offer a full day for a fixed price. Obviously, I’m not going to give hours of my time for free, but I’m happy to arrive early to get some shots, or stay after the first dance if there’s extra photos that need to be captured. Travelling to and accommodation at weddings. If there is travel involved to the wedding ceremony there would need to be some negotiation over the expenses involved in terms of accommodation, fuel or flights, food and refreshments.

A Look at the Differences in Styles

Fine Art Photography

Fine art photographers normally steer clear of too many traditional shots, in the same way that photojournalistic photographers do. Rather, their pictures are captured through an artistic appreciation of events, elements and people, accented with the use of stunning lighting. The Fine Art photographer prefers to pack their photos with art and drama, often using black and white as a filter.

Vintage Style Photography

This style of photography was borne partly from the popularity of vintage photo filters. The market for couples who want vintage style weddings and photography has become quite large. Photographs of the Vintage style are timeless, old and has the power to stir emotions in people, which is perhaps why the style has become so appealing. Colour filters together with other post processing methods have the capacity to translate rather plain images into artistic pieces and photographers who have a keen eye in this area, can work wonders with wedding photographs.

Traditional or Classical

In traditional or classical photography, each moment is captured as if it staged and a portrait, rather than spontaneous and ad hoc as they might seem. With traditional or classical wedding photography, it’s unlikely that you’ll get lots of action and movement in photos, but the images shouldnít feel unnaturally forced either. Traditional photographers will want to capture precious moments and formalities with artistic style and integrity and will look for shots that will work using that style during the wedding ceremony.

Photojournalistic or Reportage

Photojournalism photography focuses on the actual moments that happen, rather than staging them. With this type of shot you will get all of the expected group and formal shots, as well as lots more spontaneous images as well as the normal ësmile for the cameraí roundups of guests throughout the day. Photographers with a photojournalistic style will shy away from orchestrating too many moments during the day, except those formal group shots, or bride and groom images they need to take. They prefer to record close-ups of the bride, groom and wedding guests and really document the dayís actual emotions and feelings.

Black and White (Monochrome)

Black and White photographs often create a timeless and classic look. Black-and-white photos are appreciated by many for their ability to enhance the mood and atmosphere of the scene being depicted. You need to decide what you like. Monochrome images may not appeal so much to some people, but it can produce more compelling photos as it sometimes helps the context and the subject to shine through. Black and white photographs have the capacity to really enhance the atmosphere of an image, that is sometimes lost in the colour option.

Colour Popped and HDR Techniques

When shooting photographs and using this photo technique, each shot is rather complex with lots of elements to consider and the editing process is equally detailed. Photographers who use HDR and colour popping techniques have the awareness, the creative eye and the technical photographic and editing capabilities to produce stunning images.
