Why hire a professional photographer for your wedding?

You’ve probably got most of the planning done already if your wedding is fast approaching. You’ve planned the catering side of things, chosen the cake and booked the venue. Your wedding dress is perfect, your wedding theme is arranged and the flowers chosen.

You’re now planning on the best way to achieve the quality photographs your big day deserves. Maybe you’ve thought about asking a relative or friend, who is an amateur photographer to take on the responsibility.

It wouldn’t cost you anything and you can save yourself some money to budget for other things. This is a route that has been tried by many, but in truth has worked for very few.

Your wedding photos should be entrusted to a professional wedding photographer

Benefits of hiring pro-wedding photography

When you hire a specialist wedding photographer in Blacklands, the images you are presented with at the end will be of the highest quality and taken with the best photography equipment available.

The professional wedding photographer you hire in Blacklands will be able to capture fantastic images with their skill, state-of-the-art cameras and equipment and edited to a superb standard using the latest software.

The equipment such as cameras, are just a part of what it takes to capture great wedding photographs. The quality of the cameras on smartphones these days makes it very tempting to turn to them for wedding photography. Many have found this to be a big mistake. Everyone desires photographs that are skillfully composed and expertly captured for their wedding day. We’ll take a more in depth look now at what you get when you hire a professional wedding photographer in Blacklands, which adds that extra value and makes it worth your while.

Camera equipment expertise, as well as being able to deal with indoor and outdoor lighting. A photographer is only as good as the lenses they use and the skills they possess and a full appreciation of lighting. Professional wedding photographers are better, not just because of their skill and experience, but also the equipment that they use. Although DSLR cameras are available to anyone, it takes experience and proficiency to capture the best possible photos and get the most out of any camera. The person using the equipment and the quality of equipment being used are equally important. The ideal situation is that you have an expert photographer who can use top of the range equipment to its full potential. The skill of the photographer includes being able to take great photos in diverse lighting scenarios, depending on the weather, or the lighting at the wedding event venues.

The Role of the Photographer

When you hire a professional wedding photographer in Blacklands, you can expect their full attention, whereas with a friend or family member theyíre far more likely to become distracted. The role of the professional photographer is very clearly defined, whereas a family member will likely want to get involved in the celebrations where possible.

They wonít miss that crucial loving moment because theyíre eating cake, downing a beer, or chatting with wedding guests. Every moment theyíre there, their focus will be on unobtrusively capturing the best possible images that they can of the event.

Wedding guests are also far more likely to respond to a professional, paid wedding photographer than they would be to a relative barking orders. Photoshoots taken by a relative tend to be less organised and taken less seriously than those arranged by professionals.

The Photographic Style

If you want a specific style of photography, you should hire a professional photographer whose style matches yours. Not many amateurs are familiar with the differences between photojournalistic, fine art, traditional or contemporary styles.

Are you willing to gamble that theyíre able to produce the pictures that you will treasure? Often, they wonít be able to. Take some time to consider the photography styles you want to make sure that the wedding photographer you hire is in sync with you. Once you have in mind what you want to achieve, hire a professional who gets it.

A Great Communicator and Reliable, too

There are lots of other reasons to choose a professional wedding photographer rather than choosing a relative, friend or enthusiast to take your photos. A professional photographer will have the experience to ensure that photo sessions remain within the schedule and do not detract from other parts of the day.

A professional photographer will be able to communicate effectively with your guests and keep the photo sessions flowing, by effectively getting people where they need to be. They will have a smooth touch, using body language, cues and verbal commands to get things done while keeping the positive atmosphere of your big day in Blacklands. Amateur photographers find it incredibly difficult to maintain the necessary distance, humour, intimacy and support along with effectively communicating to get the perfect shot.

Expert Wedding Photographers Give You more

You spend more time with your wedding photographer than anyone else on your wedding day. They will photograph you getting ready and spending time before the event and perhaps be around all the way until you leave the venue.

Your wedding photographer is always near you, having been engaged to capture the emotion and style of your day in its entirety. Good wedding photographers will only be noticed when they need to organise a photo session. Your photographer will notice if there are untucked shirts or jackets missing in photos, as they will have a keen eye for every detail.

Your photographer will help you try and fix anything that could spoil a quality photo. Your photographer will be your shadow all day in Blacklands, not your wedding planner. The photographer will ensure that the wedding party are at the right place at the right time and calm everyone throughout any anxious or emotional moments.

The Epitome of Patience

Your wedding photographer should be professional and help you relax throughout the day. The amount of time youíre going to spend with this person on your special day really is significant. You want to be happy that you made the right decision.

The professional photographer must have a great deal of patience, empathy, technical skill and great communication skills. With the camera, they need to ensure that you and your personality shines through on your wedding day in Blacklands. An experienced professional will recognise that things rarely go exactly according to plan and will remain calm and effective throughout. An experienced wedding photographer will flow with the event and will be quick to adapt, always remaining professional.

What to Expect When You Hire a Wedding Photographer?

The wedding day is often the first time that the couple has ever had a professional photographer taking shots of them. As well as being anxious about the big day, having a camera pointed at you all day can make you feel even more uncomfortable, especially if you feel that photos donít generally flatter you.

With time invested in choosing the right wedding photographer in Blacklands that will gel with you, you can feel comfortable that certain things will happen along the way.

Do you need a quality, friendly and relaxed professional photographer for your Wedding? Give me call today.

Theyíll Be There on Time and Be Professional

By arriving early your wedding photographer will be able to scout the location and choose some excellent vantage points, although they will probably have visited your key event locations prior to the big day.

The Wedding Rehearsal on the Day Before the Wedding

In many cases, church wedding ceremonies have a rehearsal during the week before the wedding. In many cases you photographer will choose to attend this event and to speak to the presiding minister about where they can and cannot stand and what they can and cannot do during ceremony. The registrar will normally be consulted on the day of the wedding with civil ceremonies, in order for the wedding photographer to get the information they need.

The Wedding

Your wedding photographer will normally arrive to capture the bridal presentations, at a pre agreed time. You will have his undivided attention for the whole day, but without interrupting in any way. The goal at Jeff Woodall photography is to ensure that every precious moment is captured, but to remain unobtrusive and in the background until such a time as you have questions to answer, or you need some help. Jeff Woodall photography will be poised to capture all of the beautiful moments through the day, without intruding in any way.

At some point in the night, often after the first dance, your wedding photographer will check with you to find out if thereís anything else you would like to be pictured. If you are satisfied that your photographer has captured the day, he will begin the process of backing up all of the photos. All the photos will be fully backed up by Jeff Woodall photography, on 2 hard drives and the backups will be kept save until all wedding photos have been edited and delivered to you. We understand just how precious your photographs are to you.

The Editing of Wedding Photographs

Editing is a crucial stage in the wedding photography process and will be completed within the days that follow the event in Blacklands. The photographs need to tell the story of the wedding day and so the first stage is going through all the pictures and selecting the best ones. The selected photographs go through a light touch approach that enhances them subtly.

The images that Jeff Woodall photography produce are always beautifully sharp. The pictures that require a little work are edited for colour balance and size. To achieve other effects, subtle style filters may be applied to some of your wedding images and some may be converted to monochrome.

The photos are then ready to be exported from the photo editing suite into an online password protected gallery, as well as uploaded to a USB stick and delivered to you, ready for sharing on social media and for printing. Instructions on how to access the gallery which you can share with friends and family will be sent to you along with a USB stick containing high resolution images that you can easily share online.

After care

Jeff Woodall photography will be available for everything else you need; to talk about albums, or the types of bespoke wedding photo books that can be designed for you. If you have already decided on a digital photo book album and know the style choices you want to go for, it’ll probably still take you a little while after the wedding to decide on which images to include.

In most cases the photo book capacity will be around 80 images. Your photographer then begins the design work to create your stunning album.

How many hours you want the photographer for the shoot in Blacklands

Generally, a photographer will use time as one of the main methods to price an assignment. With weddings, we understand that exact timings and schedule are very individual and that they need to go with the flow of your day. We need to be flexible and so we tend to take a different approach to pricing our wedding packages.

You are probably familiar with photographers offering ëPlatinumí, ëGoldí, ëSilverí and ëBronzeí wedding packages in Blacklands. When you start adding extra options, wedding album packages, design and other things it can get quite complicated. I now offer a full day for a fixed price. I don’t quibble over the extra hour we were there, due to late starts etc. We donít want to bill you an extra hour or two after the wedding because it didn’t go exactly to schedule and the package you pay for didn’t have enough hours. If there is travel involved to the wedding ceremony there would need to be some negotiation over the expenses involved in terms of accommodation, fuel or flights, food and refreshments.

Wedding photography Services List

Below is a summary list of wedding photography services :

A Look at the Differences in Styles

Fine Art Photography

Photojournalistic specialists and fine art photographers donít normally tend to shoot many purely traditional images. Rather, they photograph with an appreciation for the artistic side of people, the lighting options and the overall drama of the scene. The Fine Art photographer in Blacklands is adept in the use of black and white photography and at producing less candid, beautifully composed photos, full of drama and artistic beauty.

Vintage Style Photography

Vintage photography is a style that has evolved and become increasingly more popular of late, helped by the emergence of vintage style filters. The number of weddings that are being photographed with a vintage wedding theme in mind, seems to be steadily growing. With vintage images there is certainly a timeless quality that can stir nostalgic emotion, which may be the cause of such an increase in the appeal of this artistic style. The use of colour filters and lighting can help to transform images into works of art during the process of capturing images of a vintage theme in Blacklands.

Traditional or Classical

With traditional or classical photography, details of shots are considered staged, even those that you may think look spontaneous. This won’t make the photograph appear forced or posed, but it’s likely that few spontaneous ëaction shotsí will be included in the mix. The goal of photographers who prefer the traditional style is to take pictures that reflect the artistry and dignity of the wedding ceremony, with stunning lighting techniques.

Photojournalistic or Reportage

Similar to a documentary style, photojournalism photography is about recording the event, rather than orchestrating them. Group shots will be taken as required, as well as candid and spontaneous images. There are few formal ëgrip and griní roundups and guests smiling for the shot. The photojournalistic wedding photographer tells the story of the day, using a mix of close-up and candid shots, showing spontaneous reaction and recording the atmosphere of the event , rather than orchestrating the scenes.

Black and White (Monochrome)

This style is excellent for timeless, classical, emotion-packed photographs. Many clients appreciate how the nostalgia and mood of images can be enhanced by removing colour. Everyone has a different preference. By using monochrome techniques, you can really bring out the essence of the subject of a photograph, although not everyone likes this style. Sometimes colour can fail to portray the atmosphere of a photo, where monochrome techniques can really bring it to life.

Colour Popped and HDR Techniques

Attention to detail during the shoot and excellent editing skills are required for this type of photography technique. The photographer chooses the appropriate moment with which to use these techniques, finally skillfully uses the right processing software to produce quality images with colours that pop and emphasises particular areas of a scene.
