Main Reasons Wedding Photography Is Important.

When planning your wedding event in St-Leonards, finding time to hire a photographer may initially be low on your priority list.

You should invest some time in planning your wedding photography though. It needs to be budgeted for and thought of well ahead of your special day in St-Leonards. Your wedding day is made up of lots of little precious memories and you need a professional wedding photographer with the ability to capture the essence of every little moment. Your wedding images will be the way you share your memories of the day with friends, family, children and future generations.

You’ll turn to your wedding photos many times in the future, recapturing the precious memories of that special day. The day after your wedding in St-Leonards, your wedding dress will be packed away, your shoes boxed up, the flowers will wither and you’ll be finishing off the last crumbs of the wedding cake. but your wedding photographs will remain with you, along with the memories, to reminisce, share and enjoy, so ensure that you take them seriously!

Why engage a wedding photographer for your big day?

The planning for your wedding day is probably almost done if your wedding is coming up soon. You’ve booked your caterer, cake and the venue. You’ve picked your wedding gown, the centrepieces and the flowers.

You are now thinking about capturing the precious memories of your big day as photographic images. Perhaps you are considering the option of asking a relative to bring their amateur photography skills to your wedding.

The savings you make on the wedding photography costs could be handy in other areas. This is certainly not the way to go.

A professional wedding photographer should take your photos

It’s a much better idea to have a professional photographer get it right, than save some money and have an amateur photographer miss those important big and little details! The photographer only has seconds to capture those once in a lifetime moment in photos that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

The benefits of having an expert wedding photographer

Hiring a professional wedding photographer in St-Leonards means you will be left with pictures of the best quality, created using the best skills and equipment available.

When you hire professional photographers for your wedding in St-Leonards, you get privileged access to the best photography knowledge and skills, together with the best equipment and software to produce the best quality pictures possible.

The quality of the photographs is determined by far more than just the camera that is taking them. The advent of camera phones has for some become a tempting way to try and save money on wedding photography. Many have found this to be a big mistake. We know everyone wants the best possible photos they can get for their wedding. We’ll take a more in depth look now at what you get when you hire a professional wedding photographer in St-Leonards, which adds that extra value and makes it worth your while.

Camera equipment expertise and knowledge, together with many other elements such as weather and lighting variations. The photographerís performance will be impaired by not having a variety of lenses, lighting options and also by not being skilled in their use. Professional wedding photographers normally bring to the table a lot more skill, knowledge and equipment that they can use. Experienced professionals can get the most out of a DSLR camera due to their experience and skill, although anyone can take a picture with one. The types of camera equipment being utilised is important, but just as important is the skill of the photographer that is using them. The ideal situation is that you have an expert photographer who can use top of the range equipment to its full potential. One of the key areas of skill is being able to use the equipment in different photographic lighting conditions, which will be necessary based on the weather and the available light available at your chosen venues.

Photographerís Roles

A professional wedding photographer in St-Leonards is far less likely to be distracted by situations of the day than a family member or relative. The professional photographer wonít be striving to enjoy the day and become part of the celebration, like a family member would want to do.

A professional photographer wonít be tempted to chat with guests, grab a quick beer, or be first in line for cake when they should be taking an important shot. Every moment theyíre there, their focus will be on unobtrusively capturing the best possible images that they can of the event.

Wedding guests are also far more likely to respond to a professional, paid wedding photographer than they would be to a relative barking orders. When family members organise a photo session, or an ad hoc photo opportunity, thereís a different dynamic to when a photographer sets up a professional shoot.

The Style of the Photography

In order to attain photos with a specific style, you need to engage a professional wedding photographer with the style to match. How many amateurs do you think are even aware of the differences between fine art, contemporary, traditional, or photojournalistic photography styles?

Can they deliver what you want the way you want it? In most cases, they will fall short. Take some time to consider the photography styles you want to make sure that the wedding photographer you hire is in sync with you. Choose a professional who can immediately understand your style ideas when you explain them.

A Reliable and Communicative Professional

There are still even more reasons why you should choose a professional photographer in St-Leonards over an enthusiast or amateur friend or relative. Itís easy to understate how a professional photographer can contribute to the day; blending into the background when necessary and getting involved to smooth the schedule and push things along when time is getting tight.

A professional wedding photographer will get people where they need to be for each photo and plan all the photo sessions to ensure no one gets missed out, or no opportunity is missed. They will use body language and verbal messages, without imposing on your guests, to run through the necessary formalities whilst enhancing the celebration of your wedding day in St-Leonards. Amateur photographers, no matter how hard they try, will find it hard to identify the right approach to photo sessions, being distant to a degree, professional, humorous, encouraging and supporting guests through the process, in order to capture those memorable shots.

Professional Wedding Photographers Provide More

Thereís no person youíll be spending more time with on your wedding day than your photographer. The wedding photographer will take preamble shots at the start of the day, shots at the venue, pictures at the reception and perhaps even pictures as you leave the venue at the end of the day.

From the start of the day to the end of the day, your wedding photographer will be around you, capturing every special moment without intruding on your day. If theyíre good at their job, youíll hardly notice theyíre there. Your photographer will notice if there are untucked shirts or jackets missing in photos, as they will have a keen eye for every detail.

By fixing any little issues they can help you get better images. The planner of your wedding will be with you for far less of the day in St-Leonards than your photographer will. The photographer will ensure that the wedding party are at the right place at the right time and calm everyone throughout any anxious or emotional moments.

A Patient Temperament

Your wedding photographer should be professional and help you relax throughout the day. This is a person you are going to be around a great deal on one of the most special days of your life. The person you have decided on needs to be the right one.

The wedding photographer should be technically excellent, patient, empathetic and a great planner. With the camera, they need to ensure that you and your personality shines through on your wedding day in St-Leonards. An experienced professional will recognise that things rarely go exactly according to plan and will remain calm and effective throughout. A good wedding photographer will remain professional at all times and will be flexible, flowing and adapting to changing circumstances.

What You Can Expect from a Wedding Photographer?

For a lot of wedding couples, their wedding day is the first time a professional wedding photographer has their camera lens pointed at them. This can cause anxiety, especially if you are camera shy or tend to look awkward in photographs.

With time invested in choosing the right wedding photographer in St-Leonards that will gel with you, you can feel comfortable that certain things will happen along the way.

Do you need a quality, friendly and relaxed professional photographer for your Wedding? Give me call today.

Promptness and Professionalism

Professionalism will shine through during your research into a photographer, while checking out their reputation, their enthusiasm for photography and their portfolio itself. Your photographer should be friendly, polite, punctual and appropriately dressed for the event. Your photographer should arrive early on the day, to scout the location having probably visited relevant locations several times already.

Wedding Day Rehearsal (The day before)

It is customary for church wedding ceremonies to have a rehearsal a few days before the big day. The wedding photographer ask to come to the wedding day rehearsal to scout the location and to find out from the Vicar where they should be standing throughout the service. With civil ceremonies, the photographers will normally have a discussion with the registrar prior to the wedding starting in St-Leonards.

Wedding Day (The big day)

Your photographer will be there to take pictures of bridal presentations, or at whatever time you have agreed beforehand. He will be there for the rest of the day but will not interrupt the flow in any way. Itís crucial to the team at Jeff Woodall photography that every precious memory is captured on camera and that we remain unobtrusive, so the day can play out naturally; we are of course available for any questions and we strive to raise the spirits of everyone in the party. The goal at Jeff Woodall photography is to ensure that every precious moment is captured, but to remain unobtrusive and in the background until such a time as you have questions to answer, or you need some help.

Sometime after the first dance, your wedding photographer will have a conversation with you to find out whether there are any more pictures that you would like taken. If you are satisfied that your photographer has captured the day, he will begin the process of backing up all of the photos. Jeff Woodall photography will keep all photos backed up on a storage device until they have been through the editing suite process and are delivered to your satisfaction. We fully understand that your photographs are precious and need to be looked after.

Wedding Photo Editing

Editing is a crucial stage in the wedding photography process and will be completed within the days that follow the event in St-Leonards. To tell the story of the wedding day the pictures need to capture the moments and so the first stage is going through all the photos and picking the best ones. The selected photographs go through a light touch approach that enhances them subtly.

The images that are captured by Jeff Woodall photography are always crisp and sharp. The pictures are cropped as necessary and the colours are balanced. Various effects can be achieved during the post processing of your images, including monochrome conversions.

Once through the editing process, the images are exported to both USB and an online password protected gallery, for viewing by everyone that you want to give access. Sharing your wedding photos is great fun and so we provide you with the USB stick with high definition pictures and instructions of how to give access to your online gallery to friends and family.

Follow-up client support

Once you have your photos, you’ll be looking for a way to present them and Jeff Woodall photography will be available to discuss the design of wedding photo books and to talk you through wedding album options. If you have already decided on a digital photo book album and know the style choices you want to go for, it’ll probably still take you a little while after the wedding to decide on which images to include.

In most cases the photo book capacity will be around 80 images. The design process will then begin, as your photographer works on the album.

How much time you want for the shoot in St-Leonards

Photographers will normally price up based on the likely time involved. Although we tend to use this pricing method for most events and for portrait shoots, the process has been simplified for our wedding packages, to fit the scheduling needs for each wedding and ensure that we remain flexible enough to go with the flow of your day.

You are probably familiar with photographers offering ëPlatinumí, ëGoldí, ëSilverí and ëBronzeí wedding packages in St-Leonards. When you start adding extra options, wedding album packages, design and other things it can get quite complicated. With me you get a full day’s coverage for a set price. Obviously, I’m not going to give hours of my time for free, but I’m happy to arrive early to get some shots, or stay after the first dance if there’s extra photos that need to be captured. The last thing you want to hear after that, is that you have been billed for an extra hour, as you only paid for the ëSilverí package of eight hours and for various reasons things ran late. For wedding ceremonies that involves travelling, the travel expenses for flights, fuel, food, refreshments and accommodation would need to be subject to negotiation with the client.

Wedding photography Services List

Below is a summary list of wedding photography services :

A Look at the Differences in Styles

Fine Art Photography

Similar to photojournalistic photography, fine art photographers rarely take traditional shots. Rather, they photograph with an appreciation for the artistic side of people, the lighting options and the overall drama of the scene. The beautifully composed photos that fine art photographers take in St-Leonards tend to have an artistic and dramatic quality and they often apply striking filters and convert images to black and white.

Vintage Style Photography

Vintage photo filters have become quite popular over the last decade and has resulted in more demand for this style of photography. The number of wedding couples that choose to have vintage wedding photography has grown fast. This style of photography can evoke feelings of nostalgia and the old and timeless nature of that style really seems to appeal to people. Vintage photography in St-Leonards is regarded as almost an art form, where the ordinary is transformed into stunning evocative images using colour filters and specialist lighting.

Traditional or Classical

With traditional or classical photography, nearly every picture is considered to be a posed portrait, even those moments that may appear to be more spontaneous. This won’t make the photograph appear forced or posed, but it’s likely that few spontaneous ëaction shotsí will be included in the mix. The goal of photographers who prefer the traditional style is to take pictures that reflect the artistry and dignity of the wedding ceremony, with stunning lighting techniques.

Photojournalistic or Reportage

This style of photography is less about orchestrating and creating moments to capture on camera, than reporting those special moments of the day. As always, the necessary formal shots will be taken, as well as a number of spontaneous happy shots group shots during the day. Photographers with a photojournalistic style will shy away from orchestrating too many moments during the day, except those formal group shots, or bride and groom images they need to take. They prefer to record close-ups of the bride, groom and wedding guests and really document the dayís actual emotions and feelings.

Black and White (Monochrome)

Black and White photographs often create a timeless and classic look. Although many people prefer colour images, others appreciate how removing that colour and by the skillfully use of post processing techniques, really create pictures that are packed with atmosphere. Everyone has a different preference. Some people really don’t like monochrome images, but black and white photographs can tend to enhance the feeling of atmosphere when done well, helping to focus attention on the subjects of the images. The extra contrast of black and monochrome images can really evoke a certain atmosphere that colour sometimes simply cannot.

Colour Popped and HDR Techniques

Attention to detail during the shoot and excellent editing skills are required for this type of photography technique. Photographers who use HDR and colour popping techniques have the awareness, the creative eye and the technical photographic and editing capabilities to produce stunning images.
