Why you should hire a pro-wedding photographer

The planning for your wedding day is probably almost done if your wedding is coming up soon. You’ve booked your caterer, cake and the venue. Your wedding dress is perfect, your wedding theme is arranged and the flowers chosen.

Your mind is now turning to how you are going to capture the big day photographically. Maybe you’ve thought about asking a relative or friend, who is an amateur photographer to take on the responsibility.

That way you can save yourself some money, diverting the cash to other areas of your budget. This is a route that has been tried by many, but in truth has worked for very few.

Your wedding photos should be entrusted to a professional wedding photographer

It’s a much better idea to have a professional photographer get it right, than save some money and have an amateur photographer miss those important big and little details! Remember, some special moments happen only once in a lifetime, yet the photos will stay with you forever.

The benefits of having an expert wedding photographer

When you choose to hire a professional wedding photographer in Hankham the pictures you receive will be quality, in high resolution, captured with the best photography equipment and edited with skill, using professional editing software.

As well as a wealth of knowledge and experience, wedding photographers in Hankham have access to premium photography equipment and software to enable them to capture the best wedding pictures possible.

The quality of the photographs is determined by far more than just the camera that is taking them. The advent of camera phones has for some become a tempting way to try and save money on wedding photography. Many have found this to be a big mistake. Everyone desires photographs that are skillfully composed and expertly captured for their wedding day. Let’s take a look at some of the main benefits of having a professional in Hankham with professional photography equipment, so that you can understand what you are actually paying for with a professional wedding photographer.

Experts with their camera gear and a host of external factors, such as weather conditions. A photographer won’t be able to do the best job possible if they don’t have the lighting options or lenses they need, or the skill to use them. A professional wedding photographer is preferred because of their skill, expertise and also the equipment they use. Experienced professionals can get the most out of a DSLR camera due to their experience and skill, although anyone can take a picture with one. The person using the equipment and the quality of equipment being used are equally important. The ideal situation is that you have an expert photographer who can use top of the range equipment to its full potential. The skill of the photographer includes being able to take great photos in diverse lighting scenarios, depending on the weather, or the lighting at the wedding event venues.

Photographerís Roles

A professional wedding photographer in Hankham is far less likely to be distracted by situations of the day than a family member or relative. A relative will likely expect to enjoy the day and become part of it, whereas a professional photographer will know that their role is very clearly defined.

They wonít miss important shots while eating a slice of cake, drinking alcohol or chit chatting with relatives. They will be concentrating on the job of getting the best possible pictures they can for your wedding.

Another thing to consider is that guests are more likely to respect photoshoots when theyíre aware that the photographers are paid professionals. When family members organise a photo session, or an ad hoc photo opportunity, thereís a different dynamic to when a photographer sets up a professional shoot.

The Style of the Photography

If you have in mind a particular photographic style, then you should hire a professional that is an expert in that area or style. Not many amateurs are familiar with the differences between photojournalistic, fine art, traditional or contemporary styles.

Are you certain that theyíre going to be able to provide you with the photos that you dream of? Often, this is not the case. Take a bit of time to understand what it is you want and then hire a photographer that can deliver that style. Once you have in mind what you want to achieve, hire a professional who gets it.

A Great Communicator and Reliable, too

There are many more reasons that a professional photographer is a better choice than using a relative or enthusiast. A professional photographer will have the experience to ensure that photo sessions remain within the schedule and do not detract from other parts of the day.

A professional wedding photographer will have the communication skills to organise groups, move people and find out exactly what you want throughout the day. They will use body language and verbal messages, without imposing on your guests, to run through the necessary formalities whilst enhancing the celebration of your wedding day in Hankham. Maintaining a balance between holding a distance as a photographer but getting involved to encourage people is a very difficult balance to strike and very few amateurs have the experience to do it.

Professional Wedding Photographers Provide More

The wedding photographer is around all day, spending time with you on your wedding day. The wedding photographer will take the initial shots during the day as you get ready and even travel to the church and will stay with you throughout the day and maybe until you leave for home or honeymoon.

Your wedding photographer remains with you throughout every special moment of the day, capturing memories and blending into the background. If they know what theyíre doing, you wonít even notice them. The photographer is the one who notices every detail out of place such as lipstick stains on the teeth, or wonky button holes etc.

They will be there to inform you of this and help you try to fix it. Your wedding planner will spend far less time with you during the day in Hankham than your photographer will. Your photographer will calm emotions when they heighten and ensure that people get to the right place at the right time.

The Epitome of Patience

As a couple, you need to hire a professional photographer that you are comfortable with. Youíre going to be spending a lot of time with this person on your wedding day. You donít want to spend all that time second-guessing your decision.

The professional photographer will have to be technically skilled, with an added mix of patience, experience and understanding. They need to flow through the day in Hankham with you, capturing the best of your personality through the lens. Even if things donít go exactly to plan, the wedding photographer will remain in control, calm and measured, as a reassuring presence. A good wedding photographer will remain professional at all times and will be flexible, flowing and adapting to changing circumstances.

What You Can Expect from a Wedding Photographer?

For most people, the wedding day will be the first time they find themselves in front of a professional photographerís camera lens. As well as being anxious about the big day, having a camera pointed at you all day can make you feel even more uncomfortable, especially if you feel that photos donít generally flatter you.

With time invested in choosing the right wedding photographer in Hankham that will gel with you, you can feel comfortable that certain things will happen along the way.

Professional Conduct and Prompt Time Keeping

Professionalism will shine through during your research into a photographer, while checking out their reputation, their enthusiasm for photography and their portfolio itself. Your wedding photographer should be punctual, personable and on time for your wedding schedule, as well as dressed appropriately. Your wedding photographer should arrive before they need to, so that they can get a feel for the venues and the best places to get the shots that you desire.

The Wedding Rehearsal on the Day Before the Wedding

It is customary for church wedding ceremonies to have a rehearsal a few days before the big day. Your photographer may want to find out from the Vicar where they should stand during the vows and which vantage points wedding photographers normally use in the church. In the case of a civil ceremony, the wedding photographer will tend to have the discussion with the registrar on the same day as the wedding in Hankham.

Wedding Day (The big day)

The bridal presentations will be captured by your photographer, he will arrive as agreed. He will stay with you for the entire day and will mirror you through the day without interrupting. When the editing process is complete, the photos are exported from the suite of editing tools and the files uploaded to an online password protected gallery for viewing and also uploaded to a USB stick; you can then distribute the photos as you want and share on social media. Instructions on how to access the gallery which you can share with friends and family will be sent to you along with a USB stick containing high resolution images that you can easily share online.

Here to help after event

Jeff Woodall photography will always be on hand, accessible to talk about wedding photo album options and the design of wedding photo books if you so require them. It can take some time after the wedding ceremony to decide on which pictures to include in your digital photo book album, even if you have already decided on colours, styles and designs.

80 images is around the number you should be looking to choose, but your photographer will guide you on this. The design process will then begin, as your photographer works on the album.

Number of hours for the shoot in Hankham

Typically, a photographer will work out pricing based on the number of hours they need to put into any assignment. Although we tend to use this pricing method for most events and for portrait shoots, the process has been simplified for our wedding packages, to fit the scheduling needs for each wedding and ensure that we remain flexible enough to go with the flow of your day.

You are probably familiar with photographers offering ëPlatinumí, ëGoldí, ëSilverí and ëBronzeí wedding packages in Hankham. It all gets quite complicated, especially if different photo album packages are also added to the mix. With me you get a full day’s coverage for a set price. Obviously, this is within reason, but I tend to arrive well early to get shots of getting ready and to remain long after the first dance, because there is still additional photographic value to be had. The last thing you want to hear after that, is that you have been billed for an extra hour, as you only paid for the ëSilverí package of eight hours and for various reasons things ran late. If there is travel involved to the wedding ceremony there would need to be some negotiation over the expenses involved in terms of accommodation, fuel or flights, food and refreshments.

Different Styles and How They’re Different

Fine Art Photography

Similar to photojournalistic photography, fine art photographers rarely take traditional shots. Events, people and elements are photographed with a more artistic approach, with the use of various lighting techniques. The beautifully composed photos that fine art photographers take in Hankham tend to have an artistic and dramatic quality and they often apply striking filters and convert images to black and white.

Vintage Style Photography

This style of photography was borne partly from the popularity of vintage photo filters. The number of weddings that are being photographed with a vintage wedding theme in mind, seems to be steadily growing. This style of photography can bring with it an ageless, timeless quality and has the power to stir emotions and maybe this is why more and more people are seeing the appeal in it. Through the use of various methods, such as colour filters used in this style, professional photographers are able to transform pretty standard looking images into works of art.

Traditional or Classical

With traditional or classical photography, nearly every picture is considered to be a posed portrait, even those moments that may appear to be more spontaneous. You’re less likely to get action shots with this type of photography, although every moment will be captured in a natural way that doesn’t feel forced or posed. The goal of photographers who prefer the traditional style is to take pictures that reflect the artistry and dignity of the wedding ceremony, with stunning lighting techniques.

Photojournalistic or Reportage

Similar to a documentary style, photojournalism photography is about recording the event, rather than orchestrating them. With this type of shot you will get all of the expected group and formal shots, as well as lots more spontaneous images as well as the normal ësmile for the cameraí roundups of guests throughout the day. Photographers with a photojournalistic style will shy away from orchestrating too many moments during the day, except those formal group shots, or bride and groom images they need to take. They prefer to record close-ups of the bride, groom and wedding guests and really document the dayís actual emotions and feelings.

Black and White (Monochrome)

With black-and-white photographs you get a timeless and classical feel to images. Although many people prefer colour images, others appreciate how removing that colour and by the skillfully use of post processing techniques, really create pictures that are packed with atmosphere. You need to decide what you like. Monochrome images aren’t always liked by everybody, but using this style can really draw attention to particular aspects of the sceneís composition and subject matter. Removing the colour from images and creating black and white can evoke a certain ambience within photographs that colour sometimes lacks.

Colour Popped and HDR Techniques

When shooting pictures, this photography technique requires attention to detail and the ability to consider various different elements and this complexity continues into the editing stage. Photographers who use HDR and colour popping techniques have the awareness, the creative eye and the technical photographic and editing capabilities to produce stunning images.
