You have chosen your wedding theme colours, selected your flowers and your wedding gown is hung up and ready to go.

The wedding photographs are next on the list. Perhaps you’re considering asking your nephew to do it since he’s an amateur photographer.

It wouldn’t cost you anything and you can save yourself some money to budget for other things. You should definitely not go down this path.

A professional wedding photographer is likely to achieve a much higher quality result

The savings you make by using an amateur photographer are not worth the risk you are taking of being left with poor quality images to look back on. Remember, some special moments happen only once in a lifetime, yet the photos will stay with you forever.

The benefits of having a professional wedding photographer

Hiring a professional wedding photographer in Carters-Corner means you will be left with pictures of the best quality, created using the best skills and equipment available.

Using their knowledge and skills, together with camera and equipment of superior technology and editing with the latest software, your wedding photographer in Carters-Corner will be able to produce beautiful and unique images that will make your day..

The equipment such as cameras, are just a part of what it takes to capture great wedding photographs. Camera phones are pretty amazing these days and many people are tempted to try and save money by using them for their wedding photos. They often make a big mistake doing so. Every wedding day deserves photographs that are captured skillfully, in the style of your choosing. I’ll explain some of these benefits in greater detail, to help you understand the value in paying a professional wedding photographer for the day in Carters-Corner.

Experts with their camera gear and a host of external factors, such as weather conditions. A photographerís resultant images will not be as impressive as they could be if they don’t have a variety of camera lenses and the knowledge and skills to use them, together with various lighting options. Professional wedding photographers are better, not just because of their skill and experience, but also the equipment that they use. DSLR cameras are accessible to most amateurs, but their full potential is only really realised in the hands of experienced pros. Both the camera equipment and the photographer are equally important in creating and capturing great photos. The ideal situation is that you have an expert photographer who can use top of the range equipment to its full potential. This includes being able to take great pictures in different photographic lighting conditions, indoors and outdoors, with different natural and artificial light at the venue.

Photographerís Roles

Another very good reason to engage the services of a professional wedding photographer in Carters-Corner is that theyíre going to be far less likely to become distracted than a family member or relative charged with capturing the dayís event. A relative will likely expect to enjoy the day and become part of it, whereas a professional photographer will know that their role is very clearly defined.

A photographer wonít be off-duty, drinking alcohol or eating cake when they should be capturing an important shot. Every moment theyíre there, their focus will be on unobtrusively capturing the best possible images that they can of the event.

Another thing to consider is that guests are more likely to respect photoshoots when theyíre aware that the photographers are paid professionals. If you have a member of your family taking photos of everyone, guests might not take the photo sessions so seriously.

Skill with Different Styles of Photography

If you have in mind a particular photographic style, then you should hire a professional that is an expert in that area or style. If you want to ask an amateur photographer, the chances are that theyíre not familiar with the differences between traditional, contemporary, fine art, or photojournalistic styles.

Can an amateur photographer capture photos the way you want them? In most cases, they will fall short. Take a bit of time to understand what it is you want and then hire a photographer that can deliver that style. Once you have a style in mind, hire a photographer that can picture what it is you want.

Communication Skills and Timeliness

There are still even more reasons why you should choose a professional photographer in Carters-Corner over an enthusiast or amateur friend or relative. Itís easy to underestimate the degree of experience a professional brings to the day and how they can contribute to it going smoothly, in spite of the various inevitable challenges.

A professional photographer will be able to communicate effectively with your guests and keep the photo sessions flowing, by effectively getting people where they need to be. They will use body language and verbal messages, without imposing on your guests, to run through the necessary formalities whilst enhancing the celebration of your wedding day in Carters-Corner. Amateur photographers, no matter how hard they try, will find it hard to identify the right approach to photo sessions, being distant to a degree, professional, humorous, encouraging and supporting guests through the process, in order to capture those memorable shots.

Professional Wedding Photographers Provide More

There arenít many people that you will spend more time on your wedding day than your wedding photographer. The wedding photographer will take the initial shots during the day as you get ready and even travel to the church and will stay with you throughout the day and maybe until you leave for home or honeymoon.

Your photographer remains constantly around you, having been hired to capture every memory and every moment without being noticed. If theyíre good at their job, youíll hardly notice theyíre there. Your photographer will notice if there are untucked shirts or jackets missing in photos, as they will have a keen eye for every detail.

Your photographer will help you try and fix anything that could spoil a quality photo. Your wedding planner will not be your shadow all day in Carters-Corner, but your photographer will. The photographer will help the wedding party and guests be where they need to be and help to calm any emotions.

Patience

As a couple, you need to hire a professional photographer that you are comfortable with. Consider the amount of time you will spend with the person on one of the most important days of your life. You want that decision to feel right at every moment of the day.

The photographer should have a great mix of patience, empathy and skills of persuasion, as well as technically superb. They need to flow with you and help the lens to capture your personality at its best throughout your special day in Carters-Corner. A good photographer will remain balanced and relaxed even throughout the many challenges during the day. The best wedding photographers flow with the event, are flexible and adaptable with the images they capture, whilst always maintaining professional standards.

Your Wedding Photographer and What to Expect?

For most people, the wedding day will be the first time they find themselves in front of a professional photographerís camera lens. As well as being anxious about the big day, having a camera pointed at you all day can make you feel even more uncomfortable, especially if you feel that photos donít generally flatter you.

If you have done your homework by selecting a professional wedding photographer in Carters-Corner that matches your style, there are a few things that a wedding photographer will deliver to mark a satisfactory service.

Good Time Keeping and Professional Standards

If you hire people for the right reasons, such as their passion, reputation and having looked at their work, professionalism will be a given. Your photographer should be friendly, polite, punctual and appropriately dressed for the event. By arriving early your wedding photographer will be able to scout the location and choose some excellent vantage points, although they will probably have visited your key event locations prior to the big day.

Wedding Day Rehearsal (The day before)

In many cases, church wedding ceremonies have a rehearsal during the week before the wedding. Your photographer may want to attend this to check the location and to have a brief discussion with the Vicar about where to stand during the service. With civil ceremonies, the photographers will normally have a discussion with the registrar prior to the wedding starting in Carters-Corner.

The Wedding

Your photographer will arrive at the agreed time to capture the bridal presentations. He will be there for the rest of the day but will not interrupt the flow in any way. Jeff Woodall photography prides itself on its ability to remain unobtrusive but to always be available for questions and to keep spirits high, ensuring that no beautifully precious moment is lost. The goal at Jeff Woodall photography is to ensure that every precious moment is captured, but to remain unobtrusive and in the background until such a time as you have questions to answer, or you need some help.

At a certain time in the evening, usually after the first dance, your photographer will approach you to see if thereís anything else you would like him to capture. The photographer will start to backup the photos if you are happy that they have captured all the moments you need. Jeff Woodall does a full backup of the wedding images, to separate hard drives, which will be kept in a safe place on his photo editing suite, where theyíll remain until all the wedding photographs have been completely edited and delivered to you. We never underestimate the value of your photographs.

Getting Your Wedding Photos Edited

In the days after the wedding in Carters-Corner the important editing stage is completed. At the first stage, all images are checked to select the ones that best tell the story of the day. Every selected photograph is edited using a light touch approach with only a few subtle edits.

The images provided to clients by Jeff Woodall photography are always high resolution. Some editing work is carried out as required, mainly consisting of colour balancing and cropping where necessary. Style filters may be applied to some of your wedding images to create a specific look and some will be converted to black and white.

When the editing process is complete, the photos are exported from the suite of editing tools and the files uploaded to an online password protected gallery for viewing and also uploaded to a USB stick; you can then distribute the photos as you want and share on social media. If you want to share access to your wedding photos on your own online gallery, weíll give you instructions on how to do so, as well as providing a high-definition backup of all your photos on a USB stick.

Client support - follow-up

We know that you may want to put your photos in wedding photo books or maybe looking for a special wedding album and Jeff Woodall photography will be available to discuss how best to present your images after the wedding. It can take some time after the wedding ceremony to decide on which pictures to include in your digital photo book album, even if you have already decided on colours, styles and designs.

Typically the photographer will ask you to choose 80 or so images. The design of the album is then carried out by your photographer.

The shoot duration in Carters-Corner

Each assignment a photographer takes is normally broken down into a number of hours. At Jeff Woodall photography this is normally the way we price up events and portraits, but with weddings the process has been simplified because we understand that each day is completely different, timings are personal and we need to be flexible to capture the flow of your wedding events.

I used to offer a variety of wedding packages in Carters-Corner, just as many photographers still do, such as ëPlatinumí, ëGoldí, ëSilverí and ëBronzeí. When you start adding extras to these packages it all becomes a bit of a logistical nightmare to understand or work out the overall price. I now offer a full day for a fixed price. Obviously, I’m not going to give hours of my time for free, but I’m happy to arrive early to get some shots, or stay after the first dance if there’s extra photos that need to be captured. We understand that things can run a little off schedule and don’t want you to be billed for an extra hour here or there if a ëSilverí or ëGoldí package, didn’t cover the hours to fully record your event. If your wedding destination is a long way away, weíll need to negotiate expenses for accommodation, flights, fuel and food.

What are the differences between all these different styles?

Fine Art Photography

Similar to photojournalistic photography, fine art photographers rarely take traditional shots. Events, people and elements are photographed with a more artistic approach, with the use of various lighting techniques. The Fine Art photographer in Carters-Corner prefers to pack their photos with art and drama, often using black and white as a filter.

Vintage Style Photography

Vintage style photography has partly evolved as a result of vintage photo filter popularity. The market for couples who want vintage style weddings and photography has become quite large. Photographs of the Vintage style are timeless, old and has the power to stir emotions in people, which is perhaps why the style has become so appealing. Vintage photography in Carters-Corner is regarded as almost an art form, where the ordinary is transformed into stunning evocative images using colour filters and specialist lighting.

Traditional or Classical

In traditional or classical photography, many shots are treated as a posed portraits, sometimes including shots you may think of as candid. With this style of photography, you are likely to get more static images than spontaneous flowing, action shots, although the images you get won’t feel overly staged. The aim of traditional photography is to capture moments with dignity and artistry, using many posed shots, including many formal images, under a range of lighting options.

Photojournalistic or Reportage

Photojournalism looks to record moments on camera, rather than orchestrating specific staged shots. Group shots will be taken as required, as well as candid and spontaneous images. There are few formal ëgrip and griní roundups and guests smiling for the shot. The photo journalistic photographer tends not to orchestrate moments and poses but would rather look to capture the genuinely spontaneous action and close up reactions of guests and the wedding couple.

Black and White (Monochrome)

Black and White photographs often create a timeless and classic look. Many clients appreciate how the nostalgia and mood of images can be enhanced by removing colour. Preference is what matters here. Monochrome images aren’t always liked by everybody, but using this style can really draw attention to particular aspects of the sceneís composition and subject matter. Black and white images can be effective in portraying an atmospheric, or nostalgic and timeless feel, that is sometimes elusive in the colour version.

Colour Popped and HDR Techniques

When shooting photographs and using this photo technique, each shot is rather complex with lots of elements to consider and the editing process is equally detailed. This technique of photography [ HDR / colour popped] involves picking the right scenes and the right processing software to create highly appealing photographs with colours that pop and stunning detail that is striking for the viewer.
