Why you should hire a pro-photographer for your wedding day.

You’ve probably got most of the planning done already if your wedding is fast approaching. You’ve planned the catering side of things, chosen the cake and booked the venue. Your wedding dress is getting its final alterations, your flowers are all on order and the decorations and table centrepieces are all in hand.

You now intend to plan the best way to ensure that the photographs do complete justice to your special day. Perhaps you’re considering asking your nephew to do it since he’s an amateur photographer.

The savings you make on the wedding photography costs could be handy in other areas. This is certainly not the way to go.

A professional wedding photographer is likely to achieve a much higher quality result

The benefits you get when you hire a photographer with significant experience of weddings are much greater than the monetary savings you’ll make when you get the photos taken for free. Remember, some special moments happen only once in a lifetime, yet the photos will stay with you forever.

The cameras are just part of the equation when it comes to taking fantastic photographs. But for many, who perceive that smartphone cameras are amazing, it is really tempting to try and cut costs on your wedding photography. Many have found this to be a big mistake. Everyone wants beautifully composed and captured photographs of their wedding day. Let’s delve deeper into what a professional wedding photographer in Three-Oaks can bring to your wedding day and how they add value.

A detailed knowledge of their camera equipment and how to deal with variable lighting conditions. A photographer’s resultant images will not be as impressive as they could be if they don’t have a variety of camera lenses and the knowledge and skills to use them, together with various lighting options. Professional wedding photographers normally bring to the table a lot more skill, knowledge and equipment that they can use. Experienced professionals can get the most out of a DSLR camera due to their experience and skill, although anyone can take a picture with one. The skill of the person taking the photos is highly important, but they also need the right equipment to produce top results. Ideally, you want to go for high end gear, as well as an expert photographer who has the knowledge and expertise in using that equipment optimally. This includes choosing the right equipment and camera settings for indoor and outdoor shots at the venue and the changing conditions at both.

The Photographer’s Role

When you hire a professional wedding photographer in Three-Oaks, you can expect their full attention, whereas with a friend or family member theyíre far more likely to become distracted. The role of the professional photographer is very clearly defined, whereas a family member will likely want to get involved in the celebrations where possible.

They won’t miss that crucial loving moment because theyíre eating cake, downing a beer, or chatting with wedding guests. They will be fully concentrating on the job, taking every opportunity to capture the special moments of your wedding day, whilst keeping it very low key.

Another thing to consider is that guests are more likely to respect photoshoots when they’re aware that the photographers are paid professionals. When family members are taking control of a family photo session it tends to be taken less seriously.

Diverse Styles of Photography

If you have in mind a particular photographic style, then you should hire a professional that is an expert in that area or style. How many amateurs do you think are even aware of the differences between fine art, contemporary, traditional, or photojournalistic photography styles?

Can an amateur really deliver the pictures that are going to inspire you forever? Quite often, they will not be able to. Take some time to consider what you want and then ensure that the photographer you use is able to capture the style that you want. Once you have a style in mind, hire a photographer that can picture what it is you want.

Communication Skills and Timeliness

There are many more reasons that a professional photographer is a better choice than using a relative or enthusiast. Itís easy to understate how a professional photographer can contribute to the day; blending into the background when necessary and getting involved to smooth the schedule and push things along when time is getting tight.

A professional wedding photographer will be able to communicate effectively and persuasively with guests to ensure they are where they need to be. They have the experience to do so using body language, cues and verbally, without obstructing your guests, or spoiling the celebration of your big day in Three-Oaks. Maintaining a balance between holding a distance as a photographer but getting involved to encourage people is a very difficult balance to strike and very few amateurs have the experience to do it.

If You Want More, Use Professional Wedding Photographers

You spend more time with your wedding photographer than anyone else on your wedding day. From the shots of you getting ready and preparing to go to church all the way to the moment you leave the wedding venue, the photographer is there.

Your wedding photographer is always near you, having been engaged to capture the emotion and style of your day in its entirety. The best wedding photographers are practically invisible, until you need a photo taken. The photographer will notice if a picture is being spoiled by a lipstick stain on a collar, or a wonky handkerchief.

Their detailed focus will help you fix any little issues and get better photos. Your photographer will be your shadow all day, not your wedding planner. The photographer will help the wedding party be where they need to be, when they need to be and to be as calm as they should be.

A Patient Demeanor

As a wedding couple, you should engage the services of a wedding photographer that helps you feel comfortable. Think about the number of hours you will be with this one person on your special day. The person you have decided on needs to be the right one.

The professional photographer will have to be technically skilled, with an added mix of patience, experience and understanding. Your personality needs to be captured through the lens and it’s their job to help you to be at ease throughout the day. A professional will remain calm and in control even when things don’t always go exactly to plan. An expert wedding photographer will adapt to the needs of the day and remain professional at all times.

Hiring a Wedding Photographer and What to Expect?

The wedding day is often the first time that the couple has ever had a professional photographer taking shots of them. This can cause anxiety, especially if you are camera shy or tend to look awkward in photographs.

If you have done your homework by selecting a professional wedding photographer in Three-Oaks that matches your style, there are a few things that a wedding photographer will deliver to mark a satisfactory service.

Theyíll Be There on Time and Be Professional

Professionalism will shine through during your research into a photographer, while checking out their reputation, their enthusiasm for photography and their portfolio itself. Your photographer should be friendly, polite, punctual and appropriately dressed for the event. Your wedding photographer should arrive before they need to, so that they can get a feel for the venues and the best places to get the shots that you desire.

Rehearsals for the Wedding Day

It is customary for church wedding ceremonies to have a rehearsal a few days before the big day. Your wedding photographer may well want to attend this wedding rehearsal to speak to the Vicar about where to stand during the ceremony and to find out more about the venue. With civil ceremonies, the photographers will normally have a discussion with the registrar prior to the wedding starting in Three-Oaks.

The Day Arrives – the Wedding

Your photographer will be there to take pictures of bridal presentations, or at whatever time you have agreed beforehand. He won’t interrupt at any point during the day but will be with you throughout. The goal at Jeff Woodall photography is to ensure that every precious moment is captured, but to remain unobtrusive and in the background until such a time as you have questions to answer, or you need some help.

At a certain time in the evening, usually after the first dance, your photographer will approach you to see if thereís anything else you would like him to capture. If you decide to call it a day, the photographer will start their backup process. All the photos will be fully backed up by Jeff Woodall photography, on 2 hard drives and in cloud storage. They will be kept safe until all wedding photos have been edited and delivered to you. We fully understand that your photographs are precious and need to be looked after.

The Wedding Photo Editing Stage

Editing is a large part of the work and will be done in the days following the wedding. At the first stage, all images are checked to select the ones that best tell the story of the day. The editing of the digital photographs then begins with a light touch approach that ensures a subtle process of enhancement.

Jeff Woodall photography provide clients with images that are high resolution. During post processing, the images undergo some minor editing. They are colour balanced and cropped. Various effects can be achieved during the post processing of your images, including monochrome conversions.

The pictures are then prepared and uploaded for viewing, by anyone you want to give access in an online password protected Gallery. They are also provided to you on a presentation USB stick. If you want to share access to your wedding photos on your own online gallery, weíll give you instructions on how to do so, as well as providing a high-definition backup of all your photos on a USB stick.

After care

Jeff Woodall photography will be available for everything else you need; to talk about albums, or the types of bespoke wedding photo books that can be designed for you. It can take some time after the wedding ceremony to decide on which pictures to include in your digital photo book album, even if you have already decided on colours, styles and designs.

Typically the photographer will ask you to choose 80 or so images. The design of the album is then carried out by your photographer.

What is included in a wedding photography package in Three-Oaks?

Take a look at the info page to see what is included in packages for wedding photography

You just decide whether you want the photographer at your engagement party, whether the photographer stays for the after-party and of course what time he arrives at the wedding ceremony. This would equate to how many days the photographer provides to you and will be early on in the decision-making process. You need to communicate which events you want captured to get them in the diary.

How many hours of shooting in Three-Oaks

Generally, each assignment the photographer takes will be priced up largely based on the anticipated hours it will take. Although we tend to use this pricing method for most events and for portrait shoots, the process has been simplified for our wedding packages, to fit the scheduling needs for each wedding and ensure that we remain flexible enough to go with the flow of your day.

If you have looked around already, then you probably know that photographers frequently have different packages that they offer such as a Platinum, gold, Silver and a Bronze package. What exactly gets delivered becomes complicated, especially in those cases where additional options are added to these package deals. I now offer a full day for a fixed price. I understand that there may be an extra hour here or there due to delays etc. The last thing you want to hear after that, is that you have been billed for an extra hour, as you only paid for the Silver package of eight hours and for various reasons things ran late. If there is travel involved to the wedding ceremony there would need to be some negotiation over the expenses involved in terms of accommodation, fuel or flights, food and refreshments.

Different Styles and How They’re Different

Fine Art Photography

In the same way that photographers of a photojournalistic genre don’t tend to take traditional shots very often, fine arts photographers rarely do either. They prefer to take an artistic view and capture elements, events and people with that mindset, always looking for dramatic lighting and backgrounds. The Fine Art photographer prefers to pack their photos with art and drama, often using black and white as a filter.

Vintage Style Photography

This style of photography was borne partly from the popularity of vintage photo filters. The number of wedding couples that choose to have vintage wedding photography has grown fast. Something about old, timeless photographs appeals to people, maybe itís the feeling of nostalgia which this style of photography evokes. Vintage photography is regarded as almost an art form, where the ordinary is transformed into stunning evocative images using colour filters and specialist lighting.

Traditional or Classical

Seemingly spontaneous and ad hoc moments often tend to actually be taken as posed portraits with traditional or classical photography. This won’t make the photograph appear forced or posed, but it’s likely that few spontaneous action shots will be included in the mix. Traditional photographers are likely to want to record of the formalities of the wedding ceremony and to portray the dignity and meaning of the ceremony, with subtle lighting.

Photojournalistic or Reportage

Similar to a documentary style, photojournalism photography is about recording the event, rather than orchestrating them. With this type of photography, you’ll get the happy shots of guests together during the day, as well as more spontaneous and candid photos; the obligatory group shots and the formal bride and groom photos will of course also be included. The photojournalistic wedding photographer tells the story of the day, using a mix of close-up and candid shots, showing spontaneous reaction and recording the atmosphere of the event , rather than orchestrating the scenes.

Black and White (Monochrome)

The black and white style is excellent for creating nostalgic and timeless photographs. Although many people prefer colour images, others appreciate how removing that colour and by the skillfully use of post processing techniques, really create pictures that are packed with atmosphere. Everyone has a different preference. By using monochrome techniques, you can really bring out the essence of the subject of a photograph, although not everyone likes this style. The extra contrast of black and monochrome images can really evoke a certain atmosphere that colour sometimes simply cannot.

Colour Popped and HDR Techniques

When shooting photographs and using this photo technique, each shot is rather complex with lots of elements to consider and the editing process is equally detailed. The photographer chooses the appropriate moment with which to use these techniques, finally skillfully uses the right processing software to produce quality images with colours that pop and emphasises particular areas of a scene. Really not to be over used.
