The dramatic improvement in camera phones means that it is very tempting to try and save money on your wedding photos. This could probably be one of the biggest mistakes you make. We know everyone wants the best possible photos they can get for their wedding. Let’s delve deeper into what a professional wedding photographer in Patching can bring to your wedding day and how they add value.

A detailed knowledge of their camera equipment and how to deal with variable lighting conditions. A photographer is only as good as the lenses they use and the skills they possess and a full appreciation of lighting. A professional wedding photographer is preferred because of their skill, expertise and also the equipment they use. Although DSLR cameras are available to anyone, it takes experience and proficiency to capture the best possible photos and get the most out of any camera. The types of camera equipment being utilised is important, but just as important is the skill of the photographer that is using them. In order to get your dream photos, you need high end camera equipment and a wedding photographer with the experience, talent and knowledge to use it appropriately to its full potential. This includes various photographic lighting options, which might be necessary depending on the degree of ambient light available due to the weather conditions or the available light at the chosen venues.

Photographerís Roles

A professional wedding photographer in Patching is far less likely to be distracted by situations of the day than a family member or relative. A relative will likely expect to enjoy the day and become part of it, whereas a professional photographer will know that their role is very clearly defined.

They wonít miss important shots while eating a slice of cake, drinking alcohol or chit chatting with relatives. Theyíll be concentrating on the job in hand, candidly capturing some of the best images they can for the duration of the event.

Wedding shoots also tend to go much better when guests are engaging with paid, professional photographers. If you have a member of your family taking photos of everyone, guests might not take the photo sessions so seriously.

The Style of the Photography

If you want a specific style of photography, you should hire a professional photographer whose style matches yours. Not many amateurs are familiar with the differences between photojournalistic, fine art, traditional or contemporary styles.

Can an amateur photographer capture photos the way you want them? Quite often, they will not be able to. Have a long think about this and make sure your wedding photographerís style is in sync with yours. Go with a professional photographer who can quickly understand what it is you are trying to achieve.

A Great Communicator and Reliable, too

A professional photographer really is a better choice than going for an amateur relative or enthusiast friend in most cases and there are lots of other reasons why. A professional photographer will have the experience to ensure that photo sessions remain within the schedule and do not detract from other parts of the day.

A professional wedding photographer will have the communication skills to organise groups, move people and find out exactly what you want throughout the day. They will be able to use signals and body language, as well as their voice, to get people where they need to be in a pleasant way, enhancing the atmosphere of your celebration in Patching. An amateur photographer, no matter how much effort they put in, will not be able to maintain a balance between the necessary distance, humour, intimacy and support while still getting the perfect shots.

Professional Wedding Photographers Are a Better Choice

The wedding photographer is around all day, spending time with you on your wedding day. The wedding photographer will take the initial shots during the day as you get ready and even travel to the church and will stay with you throughout the day and maybe until you leave for home or honeymoon.

Your wedding photographer is always near you, having been engaged to capture the emotion and style of your day in its entirety. If a photographer knows what theyíre doing, they wonít be noticed throughout the day. Your photographer will ensure everything is just as it should be, by noticing the small things like wonky ties, or untucked shirts.

They are there to help you get the best pictures and will try and fix anything that is in the way of that goal. Your photographer will be your shadow all day in Patching, not your wedding planner. The experience of the photographer will help to ensure that the wedding party know where they are going and when and help to alleviate any anxiety or emotions as they arise.

Patience Is the Key

Your wedding photographer should be professional and help you relax throughout the day. Considering the amount of time this individual is going to be a major part of your wedding day, you need to choose wisely. That decision needs to feel right.

The professional photographer must have a great deal of patience, empathy, technical skill and great communication skills. It is their job to help the day in Patching flow and to bring out your personality and capture it with their photography skills. An experienced professional will recognise that things rarely go exactly according to plan and will remain calm and effective throughout. An expert wedding photographer will adapt to the needs of the day and remain professional at all times.

What You Can Expect from a Wedding Photographer?

Often people have never been in front of a professional camera before their wedding day. Those that are camera shy, or donít particularly like how they look in photos, can feel anxious and worried about having a camera pointing at them all day.

Having invested some time to choose the right wedding photographer, you can be assured that they will do certain things to make the process less stressful.

Good Time Keeping and Professional Standards

Professionalism will shine through during your research into a photographer, while checking out their reputation, their enthusiasm for photography and their portfolio itself. Your wedding photographer should be punctual, personable and on time for your wedding schedule, as well as dressed appropriately. By arriving early your wedding photographer will be able to scout the location and choose some excellent vantage points, although they will probably have visited your key event locations prior to the big day.

Rehearsing for the Wedding Day (The day before)

Church weddings tend to have a rehearsal date within a week of the main event. In many cases you photographer will choose to attend this event and to speak to the presiding minister about where they can and cannot stand and what they can and cannot do during ceremony. In the case of a civil ceremony, the wedding photographer will tend to have the discussion with the registrar on the same day as the wedding in Patching.

The Wedding

The bridal presentations will be captured by your photographer, he will arrive as agreed. He will be there for the rest of the day but will not interrupt the flow in any way. Jeff Woodall photography will be poised to capture all of the beautiful moments through the day, without intruding in any way. Jeff Woodall photography will be poised to capture all of the beautiful moments through the day, without intruding in any way.

At some point in the night, often after the first dance, your wedding photographer will check with you to find out if thereís anything else you would like to be pictured. If you decide to call it a day, the photographer will start their backup process. Jeff Woodall photography backs up all wedding pictures captured on the day to separate hard drives and then keeps them safe in a permanent backup until the end of the editing stage and provided to you. We treat your photographs as the precious digital data that they are.

Wedding Photo Editing

In the days after the wedding in Patching the important editing stage is completed. At the first stage, all images are checked to select the ones that best tell the story of the day. The pictures that have been chosen, then go through a subtle editing approach, with light touches to enhance the images.

The images that Jeff Woodall photography produce are always beautifully sharp. During post processing, the images undergo some minor editing. They are colour balanced and cropped. To achieve other effects, subtle style filters may be applied to some of your wedding images and some may be converted to monochrome.

When the editing process is complete, the photos are exported from the suite of editing tools and the files uploaded to an online password protected gallery for viewing and also uploaded to a USB stick; you can then distribute the photos as you want and share on social media. Weíll provide you with all the instructions you need for how to access the online gallery and how to share it with your family and friends and we’ll also send you the USB stick with easy to use instructions on how to share your photos online.

Here to help after event

At Jeff Woodall photography we will ensure we are accessible to help you find out about bespoke wedding photo books and any wedding albums that you might like. You probably have decided beforehand whether you wish to opt for a digital photo book album, the styles and colours etc., but it won’t be a short time after the ceremony that you decide which images you would like it to contain.

Your photographer will guide you through how many photos to choose and how best to tell the story and we’ll probably suggest around 80 photos. Your photographer then goes about the task of designing the album.

Number of hours for the shoot in Patching

Each assignment a photographer takes is normally broken down into a number of hours. At Jeff Woodall Photography we tend to use this method of pricing for events and for portraits, but we understand that each wedding has a bespoke schedule and that we need to be flexible to go with the day and so we work a little differently.

Many photographers (and I used to) offer a range of packages in Patching, such as ëPlatinumí, ëGoldí, ëSilveríand ëBronzeí. This way of doing things can get over complicated and even more so when additional options and extras are added to the mix. With me you get a full day’s coverage for a set price. I understand that there may be an extra hour here or there due to delays etc. Accommodation and travel to and from weddings. If there is travel involved to the wedding ceremony there would need to be some negotiation over the expenses involved in terms of accommodation, fuel or flights, food and refreshments.

Different Styles and How They’re Different

Fine Art Photography

Photojournalistic specialists and fine art photographers donít normally tend to shoot many purely traditional images. Rather, they photograph with an appreciation for the artistic side of people, the lighting options and the overall drama of the scene. The beautifully composed photos that fine art photographers take in Patching tend to have an artistic and dramatic quality and they often apply striking filters and convert images to black and white.

Vintage Style Photography

Vintage image filters have become very popular and so this style of photography has quickly evolved. The market for couples who want vintage style weddings and photography has become quite large. This style of photography can evoke feelings of nostalgia and the old and timeless nature of that style really seems to appeal to people. Colour filters together with other post processing methods have the capacity to translate rather plain images into artistic pieces and photographers in Patching who have a keen eye in this area, can work wonders with wedding photographs.

Traditional or Classical

Seemingly spontaneous and ad hoc moments often tend to actually be taken as posed portraits with traditional or classical photography. This won’t make the photograph appear forced or posed, but it’s likely that few spontaneous ëaction shotsí will be included in the mix. The goal of photographers who prefer the traditional style is to take pictures that reflect the artistry and dignity of the wedding ceremony, with stunning lighting techniques.

Photojournalistic or Reportage

This style of photography is less about orchestrating and creating moments to capture on camera, than reporting those special moments of the day. The formal shots you would expect at every wedding, will be captured, as well as group and individual ëgrip and griní wedding guest shots. The photo journalistic photographer tends not to orchestrate moments and poses but would rather look to capture the genuinely spontaneous action and close up reactions of guests and the wedding couple.

Black and White (Monochrome)

Black and White photographs often create a timeless and classic look. Although many clients prefer colour photographs, a large number also appreciate the way that removing colour can enhance the mood captured in images. It’s all about preference. Monochrome images aren’t always liked by everybody, but using this style can really draw attention to particular aspects of the sceneís composition and subject matter. The extra contrast of black and monochrome images can really evoke a certain atmosphere that colour sometimes simply cannot.

Colour Popped and HDR Techniques

Attention to detail during the shoot and excellent editing skills are required for this type of photography technique. The photographer that uses HDR and colour popped techniques will use them sparingly, only with the right images, to maximise the impact of those colour popped or high dynamic scenes.
