The Photographerís Role
A professional wedding photographer in Northiam is far less likely to be distracted by situations of the day than a family member or relative. The professional photographer wonít be striving to enjoy the day and become part of the celebration, like a family member would want to do.
They wonít miss that crucial loving moment because theyíre eating cake, downing a beer, or chatting with wedding guests. Theyíll be concentrating on the job in hand, candidly capturing some of the best images they can for the duration of the event.
Wedding shoots also tend to go much better when guests are engaging with paid, professional photographers. When family members are taking control of a family photo session it tends to be taken less seriously.
The Photographic Style
In order to get a specific photographic style, you need a professional photographer whose style matches what youíre looking for. Not many amateurs are familiar with the differences between photojournalistic, fine art, traditional or contemporary styles.
Can an amateur photographer capture photos the way you want them? Often, this is not the case. Have a long think about this and make sure your wedding photographerís style is in sync with yours. Choose a professional who can immediately understand your style ideas when you explain them.
A Great Communicator and Reliable, too
A professional photographer really is a better choice than going for an amateur relative or enthusiast friend in most cases and there are lots of other reasons why. Any wedding day has tough moments to overcome, whether it is getting a large group together while meeting a deadline with a photoshoot in session and a professional brings a mass of experience to help deal with this.
A professional wedding photographer will get people where they need to be for each photo and plan all the photo sessions to ensure no one gets missed out, or no opportunity is missed. They will have a smooth touch, using body language, cues and verbal commands to get things done while keeping the positive atmosphere of your big day in Northiam. Maintaining a balance between holding a distance as a photographer but getting involved to encourage people is a very difficult balance to strike and very few amateurs have the experience to do it.

You spend more time with your wedding photographer than anyone else on your wedding day. They will be with you from the preamble shots all the way to the departure.
You wedding photographer has been hired to capture every special moment of the day, whilst staying in the background unnoticed and will do that from start to end. If theyíre good at their job, youíll hardly notice theyíre there. Your photographer will notice if there are untucked shirts or jackets missing in photos, as they will have a keen eye for every detail.
By fixing any little issues they can help you get better images. Your wedding planner will have lots of other things to do and wonít shadow you all day in Northiam, not like your photographer will. The photographer will help the wedding party be where they need to be, when they need to be and to be as calm as they should be.
Patience Is the Key
As a couple, you need to hire a professional photographer that you are comfortable with. The amount of time youíre going to spend with this person on your special day really is significant. You want that decision to feel right at every moment of the day.

Professional Conduct and Prompt Time Keeping
You can be reassured that the photographer will be professional by researching their reputation, their previous work and their passion for what they do. You want your wedding photographer to get on with the guests, to have an excellent attitude towards time keeping and to dress in a suitable manner for your wedding. Your wedding photographer should get there ahead of schedule to take a look around and find their vantage points for the day.
Wedding Day Rehearsal (The day before)
If you plan to have a church ceremony, then itís customary to have a rehearsal a day or a week before. Your photographer may want to find out from the Vicar where they should stand during the vows and which vantage points wedding photographers normally use in the church. If you choose to have a civil ceremony, then it will most likely be a chat with a registrar on the day of the wedding in Northiam.
Wedding Day (The big day)

He will remain with you for the whole day, without interrupting, obstructing or in any way affecting the flow of the day. Helping clients down the line
At Jeff Woodall photography we will ensure we are accessible to help you find out about bespoke wedding photo books and any wedding albums that you might like. If you have already decided on a digital photo book album and know the style choices you want to go for, it’ll probably still take you a little while after the wedding to decide on which images to include.
You’ll probably be asked to pick your favorite 80 photographs that depict the story of your day and you can ask your photographer any questions to guide you on this. The design of the album is then carried out by your photographer.

How many hours of shooting in Northiam
Generally, a photographer will use time as one of the main methods to price an assignment. At Jeff Woodall Photography we tend to use this method of pricing for events and for portraits, but we understand that each wedding has a bespoke schedule and that we need to be flexible to go with the day and so we work a little differently.
Photographers often [I used to] have different packages in Northiam i.e. ëPlatinumí, ëGoldí, ëSilverí, ëBronzeí, etc. When you start adding extras to these packages it all becomes a bit of a logistical nightmare to understand or work out the overall price. I find it works better to have a set price for a full day’s coverage. I don’t quibble over the extra hour we were there, due to late starts etc. We know you don’t want to have an extra hour billed after the event, just because your schedule fell behind and the eight hours you paid for in the ëSilver packageí didn’t cover the full day. For wedding ceremonies that involves travelling, the travel expenses for flights, fuel, food, refreshments and accommodation would need to be subject to negotiation with the client.

Different Styles and How They’re Different
Fine Art Photography
Photographers that concentrate on a fine art style, don’t usually take traditional shots, just as photojournalistic photographers donít. Rather, they photograph with an appreciation for the artistic side of people, the lighting options and the overall drama of the scene. Fine Art photographers in Northiam have a flair for the dramatic and always looking for the artistic side when composing and staging their photos, often using different filters, including black and white.
Vintage Style Photography
Vintage photo filters have become quite popular over the last decade and has resulted in more demand for this style of photography. The market for couples who want vintage style weddings and photography has become quite large. With vintage images there is certainly a timeless quality that can stir nostalgic emotion, which may be the cause of such an increase in the appeal of this artistic style. The use of colour filters and lighting can help to transform images into works of art during the process of capturing images of a vintage theme in Northiam.
Traditional or Classical
With traditional or classical photography, nearly every picture is considered to be a posed portrait, even those moments that may appear to be more spontaneous. With traditional or classical wedding photography, it’s unlikely that you’ll get lots of action and movement in photos, but the images shouldnít feel unnaturally forced either. Traditional photographers will want to capture precious moments and formalities with artistic style and integrity and will look for shots that will work using that style during the wedding ceremony.
Photojournalistic or Reportage
Similar to a documentary style, photojournalism photography is about recording the event, rather than orchestrating them. The formal shots you would expect at every wedding, will be captured, as well as group and individual ëgrip and griní wedding guest shots. The photo journalistic photographer is all about immortalizing the spontaneous reactions and emotions of the day as they happen, rather than orchestrating and staging their images.
Black and White (Monochrome)
This style is excellent for timeless, classical, emotion-packed photographs. Black-and-white photos are appreciated by many for their ability to enhance the mood and atmosphere of the scene being depicted. It really comes down to what you prefer. Monochrome images may not appeal so much to some people, but it can produce more compelling photos as it sometimes helps the context and the subject to shine through. The extra contrast of black and monochrome images can really evoke a certain atmosphere that colour sometimes simply cannot.
Colour Popped and HDR Techniques
When shooting photographs and using this photo technique, each shot is rather complex with lots of elements to consider and the editing process is equally detailed. This technique of photography [ HDR / colour popped] involves picking the right scenes and the right processing software to create highly appealing photographs with colours that pop and stunning detail that is striking for the viewer.
