Wedding Photography and Why It Is so Important?

Planning your wedding day in Mark-Cross is an involved process and hiring a wedding photographer may not initially be at the top of your priority list.

However, it’s well worth bumping up your wedding photos so they are near the top of your list. You need to set a budget for it and get a professional in Mark-Cross booked well in advance. There are potentially so many precious moments during any wedding and so you need a wedding photographer who has the talent to both see and capture those moments. That takes a great deal of skill and experience. Your wedding photo book will be revisited countless times over the years with your friends, your children and even perhaps your future grandchildren.

You’ll turn to your wedding photos many times in the future, recapturing the precious memories of that special day. When your wedding day in Mark-Cross has come and gone, your wedding dress and shoes will be packed away, the flowers will be gone and your wedding cake will be no more. but the photographs of your wedding will always be with you to share, enjoy, laugh and maybe cry over. So please take the time to find the right professional!

Why engage a wedding photographer for your big day?

You’ve probably got most of the planning done already if your wedding is fast approaching. You’ve booked your caterer, cake and the venue. Your wedding dress is getting its final alterations, your flowers are all on order and the decorations and table centrepieces are all in hand.

You now intend to plan the best way to ensure that the photographs do complete justice to your special day. Perhaps you’re considering asking your nephew to do it since he’s an amateur photographer.

The money you save on the photographs could be used to cover other wedding expenses. This is a route that has been tried by many, but in truth has worked for very few.

You should hire a professional wedding photographer

It’s a much better idea to have a professional photographer get it right, than save some money and have an amateur photographer miss those important big and little details! Remember, some special moments happen only once in a lifetime, yet the photos will stay with you forever.

The benefits of having an expert wedding photographer

When you choose to hire a professional wedding photographer in Mark-Cross the pictures you receive will be quality, in high resolution, captured with the best photography equipment and edited with skill, using professional editing software.

A professional wedding photographer in Mark-Cross will be able to take great pictures, using a combination of skill, the latest digital equipment and software, giving you a superb finished product.

The quality of the photographs is determined by far more than just the camera that is taking them. But for many, who perceive that smartphone cameras are amazing, it is really tempting to try and cut costs on your wedding photography. They often make a big mistake doing so. Everyone wants beautifully composed and captured photographs of their wedding day. Let’s take a look at some of the main benefits of having a professional in Mark-Cross with professional photography equipment, so that you can understand what you are actually paying for with a professional wedding photographer.

Knowledge with the latest camera equipment and the use of it in varying situations. A photographer is only as good as the lenses they use and the skills they possess and a full appreciation of lighting. Professional wedding photographers are better, not just because of their skill and experience, but also the equipment that they use. Anyone can buy a DSLR camera, but it takes great skill to unlock the potential of the equipment. The person using the equipment and the quality of equipment being used are equally important. The ideal scenario is that you have the best equipment available and a highly skilled professional photographer to be able to get the most out of it. One of the key areas of skill is being able to use the equipment in different photographic lighting conditions, which will be necessary based on the weather and the available light available at your chosen venues.

Photographerís Roles

Another reason to hire a professional wedding photographer in Mark-Cross, rather than trusting a family member or a friend with the task, is it they will be less distracted. When you pay a professional photographer, theyíre there to do a job, whereas a family member is more likely to be looking to enjoy the celebrations.

They wonít miss important shots while eating a slice of cake, drinking alcohol or chit chatting with relatives. Every moment theyíre there, their focus will be on unobtrusively capturing the best possible images that they can of the event.

Something else that is a factor is that wedding guests tend to respect photo opportunities much more when they are gently marshalled by professional photographers. When family members organise a photo session, or an ad hoc photo opportunity, thereís a different dynamic to when a photographer sets up a professional shoot.

The Photography Style

If you want a specific style of photography, you should hire a professional photographer whose style matches yours. If you asked the majority of amateur photographers what the difference is between fine art, contemporary, traditional or photojournalistic photography styles, most wouldnít have a clue.

Can an amateur really deliver the pictures that are going to inspire you forever? Often, this is not the case. Have a long think about this and make sure your wedding photographerís style is in sync with yours. Make sure that you hire a wedding photographer who can quickly comprehend exactly what it is you want to achieve.

A Reliable and Communicative Professional

There are many more reasons that a professional photographer is a better choice than using a relative or enthusiast. A professional photographer brings a lot of experience of weddings to the table and can help you to stay on track with the schedule and find the right balance between getting things done and blending into the background.

A professional wedding photographer will be able to communicate effectively and persuasively with guests to ensure they are where they need to be. They have the experience to do so using body language, cues and verbally, without obstructing your guests, or spoiling the celebration of your big day in Mark-Cross. Maintaining a balance between holding a distance as a photographer but getting involved to encourage people is a very difficult balance to strike and very few amateurs have the experience to do it.

Professional Wedding Photographers Provide More

There arenít many people that you will spend more time on your wedding day than your wedding photographer. They will be with you from the preamble shots all the way to the departure.

You wedding photographer has been hired to capture every special moment of the day, whilst staying in the background unnoticed and will do that from start to end. The best wedding photographers are practically invisible, until you need a photo taken. Your photographer will notice if there are untucked shirts or jackets missing in photos, as they will have a keen eye for every detail.

They are there to help you get the best pictures and will try and fix anything that is in the way of that goal. Your wedding planner will have lots of other things to do and wonít shadow you all day in Mark-Cross, not like your photographer will. Your photographer will calm emotions when they heighten and ensure that people get to the right place at the right time.

A Patient Temperament

Every wedding couple needs to hire a photographer that they feel comfortable around. Youíre going to be spending a lot of time with this person on your wedding day. You want to be happy that you made the right decision.

You need a technically proficient photographer with, empathy, patience, understanding and superb planning skills. They need to flow with you and help the lens to capture your personality at its best throughout your special day in Mark-Cross. An experienced professional will recognise that things rarely go exactly according to plan and will remain calm and effective throughout. An expert wedding photographer will adapt to the needs of the day and remain professional at all times.

What to Expect from Your Wedding Photographer?

The wedding day is often the first time that the couple has ever had a professional photographer taking shots of them. This can be a source of anxiety and worry, especially for those that donít like the way they look in photographs.

With time invested in choosing the right wedding photographer in Mark-Cross that will gel with you, you can feel comfortable that certain things will happen along the way.

Good Time Keeping and Professional Standards

If you hire people for the right reasons, such as their passion, reputation and having looked at their work, professionalism will be a given. Your photographer should be friendly, polite, punctual and appropriately dressed for the event. By arriving early your wedding photographer will be able to scout the location and choose some excellent vantage points, although they will probably have visited your key event locations prior to the big day.

The Day Before the Wedding - the Rehearsal

In many cases, church wedding ceremonies have a rehearsal during the week before the wedding. Your wedding photographer may well want to attend this wedding rehearsal to speak to the Vicar about where to stand during the ceremony and to find out more about the venue. If you choose to have a civil ceremony, then it will most likely be a chat with a registrar on the day of the wedding in Mark-Cross.

The Big Wedding Day

Your photographer will be there to take pictures of bridal presentations, or at whatever time you have agreed beforehand. You will have his undivided attention for the whole day, but without interrupting in any way. Jeff Woodall photographyís ethos is to be very subtle, at staying in the background without interrupting the day, but being available to keep spirits high and answer any difficult questions, making sure that every single memory is captured in digital format. Jeff Woodall photography will be poised to capture all of the beautiful moments through the day, without intruding in any way.

Sometime after the first dance, your wedding photographer will have a conversation with you to find out whether there are any more pictures that you would like taken. If you decide to call it a day, the photographer will start their backup process. Jeff Woodall does a full backup of the wedding images, to separate hard drives, which will be kept in a safe place on his photo editing suite, where theyíll remain until all the wedding photographs have been completely edited and delivered to you. We understand just how precious your photographs are to you.

The Editing of Wedding Photographs

Editing is a crucial stage in the wedding photography process and will be completed within the days that follow the event in Mark-Cross. The photographs need to tell the story of the wedding day and so the first stage is going through all the pictures and selecting the best ones. Every selected photograph is edited using a light touch approach with only a few subtle edits.

Jeff Woodall photography only use beautifully sharp images. During post processing, the images undergo some minor editing. They are colour balanced and cropped. Some of the pictures may be converted to monochrome and other style filters may be applied to further enhance the overall effects of your images.

Once through the editing process, the images are exported to both USB and an online password protected gallery, for viewing by everyone that you want to give access. If you want to share access to your wedding photos on your own online gallery, weíll give you instructions on how to do so, as well as providing a high-definition backup of all your photos on a USB stick.

Follow-up client support

At Jeff Woodall photography we will ensure we are accessible to help you find out about bespoke wedding photo books and any wedding albums that you might like. If you have already decided on a digital photo book album and know the style choices you want to go for, it’ll probably still take you a little while after the wedding to decide on which images to include.

Typically the photographer will ask you to choose 80 or so images. The design process will then begin, as your photographer works on the album.

The shoot duration in Mark-Cross

Photographers will normally price up based on the likely time involved. At Jeff Woodall photography this is normally the way we price up events and portraits, but with weddings the process has been simplified because we understand that each day is completely different, timings are personal and we need to be flexible to capture the flow of your wedding events.

Photographers often [I used to] have different packages in Mark-Cross i.e. ëPlatinumí, ëGoldí, ëSilverí, ëBronzeí, etc. It all gets quite complicated, especially if different photo album packages are also added to the mix. I now prefer to work on a fixed price for the full day’s coverage. Obviously, this is within reason, but I tend to arrive well early to get shots of getting ready and to remain long after the first dance, because there is still additional photographic value to be had. We understand that things can run a little off schedule and don’t want you to be billed for an extra hour here or there if a ëSilverí or ëGoldí package, didn’t cover the hours to fully record your event. If your wedding destination is a long way away, weíll need to negotiate expenses for accommodation, flights, fuel and food.

Wedding photography Services List

Below is a summary list of wedding photography services :

Some of the differences between wedding styles explained

Fine Art Photography

Photographers that concentrate on a fine art style, don’t usually take traditional shots, just as photojournalistic photographers donít. Rather, their pictures are captured through an artistic appreciation of events, elements and people, accented with the use of stunning lighting. The beautifully composed photos that fine art photographers take in Mark-Cross tend to have an artistic and dramatic quality and they often apply striking filters and convert images to black and white.

Vintage Style Photography

This style of photography was borne partly from the popularity of vintage photo filters. More and more couples are choosing vintage wedding photography as their wedding style for their photographs. With vintage images there is certainly a timeless quality that can stir nostalgic emotion, which may be the cause of such an increase in the appeal of this artistic style. Colour filters together with other post processing methods have the capacity to translate rather plain images into artistic pieces and photographers in Mark-Cross who have a keen eye in this area, can work wonders with wedding photographs.

Traditional or Classical

With traditional or classical photography, nearly every picture is considered to be a posed portrait, even those moments that may appear to be more spontaneous. You’re less likely to get action shots with this type of photography, although every moment will be captured in a natural way that doesn’t feel forced or posed. Traditional photographers are likely to want to record of the formalities of the wedding ceremony and to portray the dignity and meaning of the ceremony, with subtle lighting.

Photojournalistic or Reportage

This style involves the recording of events as opposed to the staging of them. As always, the necessary formal shots will be taken, as well as a number of spontaneous happy shots group shots during the day. Photojournalistic photographers prefer to capture spontaneous emotions and reactions, often by the use of close ups and candid techniques, they have a general philosophy of freezing that authentic moment in time, rather than creating orchestrated poses and scenes.

Black and White (Monochrome)

Black and White photographs often create a timeless and classic look. Colour images are preferred by some clients, while some appreciate how the mood of their photos can be enhanced by the desaturation of colours. You need to decide what you like. By using monochrome techniques, you can really bring out the essence of the subject of a photograph, although not everyone likes this style. Removing the colour from images and creating black and white can evoke a certain ambience within photographs that colour sometimes lacks.

Colour Popped and HDR Techniques

When shooting photographs and using this photo technique, each shot is rather complex with lots of elements to consider and the editing process is equally detailed. Photographers who use HDR and colour popping techniques have the awareness, the creative eye and the technical photographic and editing capabilities to produce stunning images.
