Main Reasons Wedding Photography Is Important.

Planning your wedding day in Arundel is an involved process and hiring a wedding photographer may not initially be at the top of your priority list.

However, it’s definitely something that deserves some prioritisation. You need to set a budget that is sufficient for the task and get your photographer booked in Arundel up as far in advance as possible. It is vitally important that you hire a wedding photographer you can trust to capture the day with skill and expertise. When your children and future grandchildren ask you about your wedding, you’ll be able to tell the story of the day by showing them your wedding images.

Why engage a wedding photographer for your big day?

If you’re getting married soon, you’ve probably done the majority of the necessary planning. You’ve planned the catering side of things, chosen the cake and booked the venue. You have chosen your wedding theme colours, selected your flowers and your wedding gown is hung up and ready to go.

The wedding photographs are next on the list. Perhaps you are considering the option of asking a relative to bring their amateur photography skills to your wedding.

It wouldn’t cost you anything and you can save yourself some money to budget for other things. This is a route that has been tried by many, but in truth has worked for very few.

A professional wedding photographer should take your photos

The savings you make by using an amateur photographer are not worth the risk you are taking of being left with poor quality images to look back on. There are dozens of special moments that happen on your wedding day and in a flash they’re gone and forgotten if not captured in your photos.

The benefits of having a professional wedding photographer

The photography equipment and software that a professional wedding photographer you hire in Arundel will use will ensure that you get the best quality images possible.

Using their knowledge and skills, together with camera and equipment of superior technology and editing with the latest software, your wedding photographer will be able to produce beautiful and unique images that will make your day..

The equipment such as cameras, are just a part of what it takes to capture great wedding photographs. The advent of camera phones has for some become a tempting way to try and save money on wedding photography. Many have found this to be a big mistake. Every wedding day deserves photographs that are captured skillfully, in the style of your choosing. Let’s take a look at some of the main benefits of having a professional with professional photography equipment, so that you can understand what you are actually paying for with a professional wedding photographer.

Camera equipment expertise and knowledge, together with many other elements such as weather and lighting variations. The photographer’s performance will be impaired by not having a variety of lenses, lighting options and also by not being skilled in their use. Professional wedding photographers have more photographic equipment in their armoury and also have more experience using different setups to capture stunning images. Anyone can buy a DSLR camera, but it takes great skill to unlock the potential of the equipment. The type of equipment used is crucial, but just as if not more important, is the person handling the equipment. The ideal scenario is that you have the best equipment available and a highly skilled professional photographer to be able to get the most out of it. This includes various photographic lighting options, which might be necessary depending on the degree of ambient light available due to the weather conditions or the available light at the chosen venues.

The Photographer’s Role

Another very good reason to engage the services of a professional wedding photographer in Arundel is that they’re going to be far less likely to become distracted than a family member or relative charged with capturing the day’s event. A relative will likely expect to enjoy the day and become part of it, whereas a professional photographer will know that their role is very clearly defined.

They won’t miss that precious moment whilst chatting with wedding guests, having a beer or grabbing a slice of cake. They will be concentrating on the job of getting the best possible pictures they can for your wedding.

Another thing to bear in mind is that wedding guests tend to respond to photoshoots better when they are being arranged by professional wedding photographers. If a relative is trying to organise a photo session, it might end up far less organised than if a professional were doing it.

The Style of the Photography

If you want a specific style of photography, you should hire a professional photographer whose style matches yours. Not many amateurs are familiar with the differences between photojournalistic, fine art, traditional or contemporary styles.

Are you certain that they’re going to be able to provide you with the photos that you dream of? Quite often, they will not be able to. Have a long think about this and make sure your wedding photographerís style is in sync with yours. Once you have a style in mind, hire a photographer that can picture what it is you want.

Reliability and Communication

A professional photographer is normally a much better choice than an amateur photographer or enthusiast and we’ve already touched on a few other reasons so far. You shouldnít underestimate the wealth of experience the professional brings in dealing with the various challenges of the big day.

A professional wedding photographer will have the communication skills to organise groups, move people and find out exactly what you want throughout the day. They will be able to use signals and body language, as well as their voice, to get people where they need to be in a pleasant way, enhancing the atmosphere of your celebration in Arundel. Getting the perfect picture often involves striking a balance between being distant, but also being encouraging and supportive, humorous and amateurs rarely have the skills to do it.

You Get More with Professional Wedding Photographers

You spend more time with your wedding photographer than anyone else on your wedding day. The wedding photographer will take the initial shots during the day as you get ready and even travel to the church and will stay with you throughout the day and maybe until you leave for home or honeymoon.

Your wedding photographer is always near you, having been engaged to capture the emotion and style of your day in its entirety. If a photographer knows what they’re doing, they won’t be noticed throughout the day. Your photographer will notice if there are untucked shirts or jackets missing in photos, as they will have a keen eye for every detail.

They will be there to inform you of this and help you try to fix it. Your wedding planner will spend far less time with you during the day in Arundel than your photographer will. The photographer will help the wedding party be where they need to be, when they need to be and to be as calm as they should be.

The Epitome of Patience

Your wedding photographer should be professional and help you relax throughout the day. Think about the number of hours you will be with this one person on your special day. You don’t want to spend all that time second-guessing your decision.

You need a technically proficient photographer with, empathy, patience, understanding and superb planning skills. Your personality needs to be captured through the lens and it’s their job to help you to be at ease throughout the day in Arundel. A professional will remain calm and in control even when things donít always go exactly to plan. An experienced wedding photographer will flow with the event and will be quick to adapt, always remaining professional.

What to Expect When You Hire a Wedding Photographer?

For a lot of wedding couples, their wedding day is the first time a professional wedding photographer has their camera lens pointed at them. This can cause anxiety, especially if you are camera shy or tend to look awkward in photographs.

With time invested in choosing the right wedding photographer in Arundel that will gel with you, you can feel comfortable that certain things will happen along the way.

A Professional Attitude and Good Time Keeping

After looking at a photographer based on their reputation, the passion for their work and their portfolio of previous work, you can feel comfortable that you will have hired someone who is professional. Your wedding photographer should remain polite and courteous at all times, demonstrating a great attitude, good time keeping for every aspect of the schedule and remaining suitably attired throughout the day. By arriving early your wedding photographer will be able to scout the location and choose some excellent vantage points, although they will probably have visited your key event locations prior to the big day.

Rehearsing for the Wedding Day (The day before)

Church wedding ceremonies normally have the custom of a wedding rehearsal a day or two before the wedding. Your wedding photographer may well want to attend this wedding rehearsal to speak to the Vicar about where to stand during the ceremony and to find out more about the venue. This discussion normally happens on the day of the wedding in Arundel, with the registrar, in the case of a civil ceremony.

The Big Wedding Day

Your wedding photographer will tend to arrive to take photos of the bridal presentations, the timings will have been agreed. You will have his undivided attention for the whole day, but without interrupting in any way. It’s crucial to the team at Jeff Woodall photography that every precious memory is captured on camera and that we remain unobtrusive, so the day can play out naturally; we are of course available for any questions and we strive to raise the spirits of everyone in the party. Jeff Woodall photography will be poised to capture all of the beautiful moments through the day, without intruding in any way.

Your wedding photographer will have a discussion with you sometime after the first dance to find out if you need any more precious moments captured. If you decide to call it a day, the photographer will start their backup process. Jeff Woodall does a full backup of the wedding images, to separate hard drives and cloud storage, which will be kept in a safe place on his photo editing suite, where they’ll remain until all the wedding photographs have been completely edited and delivered to you. We treat your photographs as the precious digital data that they are.

Getting Your Wedding Photos Edited

Editing is a large part of the work and will be done in the days following the wedding in Arundel. At the start of the editing stage, the photos need to be sifted through so that the best ones can be selected. The selected photographs go through a light touch approach that enhances them subtly.

The images that Jeff Woodall photography produce are always beautifully sharp. The pictures that require a little work are edited for colour balance and size. To achieve other effects, subtle style filters may be applied to some of your wedding images and some may be converted to monochrome.

The images are then exported and uploaded to an online password protected gallery, ready to be viewed by you, your friends and family as you wish. You will also be given all high resolution images on a USB stick. If you want to share access to your wedding photos on your own online gallery, we’ll give you instructions on how to do so, as well as providing a high-definition backup of all your photos on a USB stick.

After care

Jeff Woodall photography will be available for everything else you need; to talk about albums, or the types of bespoke wedding photo books that can be designed for you. If you have already decided on a digital photo book album and know the style choices you want to go for, it’ll probably still take you a little while after the wedding to decide on which images to include.

Typically the photographer will ask you to choose 80 or so images. Your photographer will then begin to design the album for you.

The amazing wedding photography package you will get in Arundel

What is normally included in packages for wedding photography

Below is a list of the what is included in a wedding photography package. Some of the details are given, others you may need to pay careful attention to. How many events you want photographed.

You’ll probably want the photographer for the wedding ceremony and some or all of the after-party but itís worth thinking about whether you want photos from the bridal shower and the engagement party too. This will be early on in the decision-making process and will be divided into a number of days that you need the photographer. You need to communicate which events you want captured to get them in the diary.

Number of hours for the shoot in Arundel

Photographers will normally price up based on the likely time involved. At Jeff Woodall Photography we tend to use this method of pricing for events and for portraits, but we understand that each wedding has a bespoke schedule and that we need to be flexible to go with the day and so we work a little differently.

I used to offer a variety of wedding packages in Arundel, just as many photographers still do, such as Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. What exactly gets delivered becomes complicated, especially in those cases where additional options are added to these package deals. I now offer a full day for a fixed price. I don’t quibble over the extra hour we were there, due to late starts etc. We don’t want to bill you an extra hour or two after the wedding because it didn’t go exactly to schedule and the package you paid for didn’t have enough hours. For wedding ceremonies that are a long way away and need significant travel or even flights, there would be some negotiation required over accommodation, fuel, flights, food and refreshments.

Different Styles and How They’re Different

Fine Art Photography

Just as with photography of a photojournalistic style, fine art photographers don’t normally take that many shots that are of a traditional nature. They prefer to take an artistic view and capture elements, events and people with that mindset, always looking for dramatic lighting and backgrounds. The Fine Art photographer in Arundel is adept in the use of black and white photography and at producing less candid, beautifully composed photos, full of drama and artistic beauty.

Vintage Style Photography

Vintage photography is a style that has evolved and become increasingly more popular of late, helped by the emergence of vintage style filters. The number of weddings that are being photographed with a vintage wedding theme in mind, seems to be steadily growing. Photographs of the Vintage style are timeless, old and has the power to stir emotions in people, which is perhaps why the style has become so appealing. Vintage photography in Arundel is regarded as almost an art form, where the ordinary is transformed into stunning evocative images using colour filters and specialist lighting.

Traditional or Classical

In traditional or classical photography, many shots are treated as a posed portraits, sometimes including shots you may think of as candid. With this style of photography, you are likely to get more static images than spontaneous flowing, action shots, although the images you get won’t feel overly staged. Traditional photographers are likely to want to record of the formalities of the wedding ceremony and to portray the dignity and meaning of the ceremony, with subtle lighting.

Photojournalistic or Reportage

This style involves the recording of events as opposed to the staging of them. The formal shots you would expect at every wedding, will be captured, as well as group and individual wedding guest shots. The photo journalistic photographer is all about immortalizing the spontaneous reactions and emotions of the day as they happen, rather than orchestrating and staging their images.

Black and White (Monochrome)

Black and White photographs often create a timeless and classic look. Many clients appreciate how the nostalgia and mood of images can be enhanced by removing colour. Everyone has a different preference. Using monochrome can enhance pictures by helping the subject and composition of photos really come to life. The extra contrast of black and monochrome images can really evoke a certain atmosphere that colour sometimes simply cannot.

Colour Popped and HDR Techniques

This area of photography requires skill in techniques that involve shooting with a lot of attention to detail and the post processing becomes a little more complex too. The photographer that uses HDR and colour popped techniques will use them sparingly, only with the right images, to maximise the impact of those colour popped or high dynamic scenes.
