Why a professional photographer is the right choice for your wedding
If you’re getting married soon, you’ve probably done the majority of the necessary planning. You’ve arranged the venue, chosen your cake and booked a caterer. You’ve picked your wedding gown, the centrepieces and the flowers.
You are now thinking about capturing the precious memories of your big day as photographic images. Your uncle is a good amateur photographer and perhaps you’re considering asking him.
The money you save on the photographs could be used to cover other wedding expenses. This is a route that has been tried by many, but in truth has worked for very few.
A professional wedding photographer is likely to achieve a much higher quality result
The benefits you get when you hire a photographer with significant experience of weddings are much greater than the monetary savings you’ll make when you get the photos taken for free. The photos that are taken must capture those special seconds that mean the most to you.
Some of the key benefits of professional wedding photography
Hiring a professional wedding photographer in Loxwood means you will be left with pictures of the best quality, created using the best skills and equipment available.
A professional wedding photographer in Loxwood will be able to take great pictures, using a combination of skill, the latest digital equipment and software, giving you a superb finished product.
The physical equipment such as cameras, is just part of the equation in terms of capturing the best photographic images. The dramatic improvement in camera phones means that it is very tempting to try and save money on your wedding photos. This might be a huge mistake. Every wedding couple wants the highest quality and most skillfully composed photographs possible, to remember their wedding day by. Let me explain a bit more about how a wedding photographer in Loxwood can add value to your photos and why it’s worth paying for them.
A detailed knowledge of their camera equipment and how to deal with variable lighting conditions. A photographer is only as good as the lenses they use and the skills they possess and a full appreciation of lighting. Professional wedding photographers normally bring to the table a lot more skill, knowledge and equipment that they can use. Although DSLR cameras are available to anyone, it takes experience and proficiency to capture the best possible photos and get the most out of any camera. The person using the equipment and the quality of equipment being used are equally important. In order to get your dream photos, you need high end camera equipment and a wedding photographer with the experience, talent and knowledge to use it appropriately to its full potential. The skill of the photographer includes being able to take great photos in diverse lighting scenarios, depending on the weather, or the lighting at the wedding event venues.

The Roles of Expert Photographers
Another reason to hire a professional wedding photographer in Loxwood, rather than trusting a family member or a friend with the task, is it they will be less distracted. The professional photographer wonít be striving to enjoy the day and become part of the celebration, like a family member would want to do.
They wonít miss that precious moment whilst chatting with wedding guests, having a beer or grabbing a slice of cake. Theyíll be concentrating on the job in hand, candidly capturing some of the best images they can for the duration of the event.
Wedding guests are also far more likely to respond to a professional, paid wedding photographer than they would be to a relative barking orders. If you have a member of your family taking photos of everyone, guests might not take the photo sessions so seriously.
The Style of the Photography
In order to get a specific photographic style, you need a professional photographer whose style matches what youíre looking for. If you asked the majority of amateur photographers what the difference is between fine art, contemporary, traditional or photojournalistic photography styles, most wouldnít have a clue.
Can an amateur really deliver the pictures that are going to inspire you forever? In most cases, they will fall short. Have a long think about this and make sure your wedding photographerís style is in sync with yours. Go with a professional photographer who can quickly understand what it is you are trying to achieve.
Communication Skills and Timeliness
There are numerous other factors that contribute to a professional photographer being a better choice than an amateur photographer or enthusiast. A professional photographer will have the experience to ensure that photo sessions remain within the schedule and do not detract from other parts of the day.
A professional will be able to carry the wedding party along and subtly communicate where your guests need to be. They have the experience to do so using body language, cues and verbally, without obstructing your guests, or spoiling the celebration of your big day in Loxwood. An amateur photographer, no matter how much effort they put in, will not be able to maintain a balance between the necessary distance, humour, intimacy and support while still getting the perfect shots.
Expert Wedding Photographers Give You more
Of all the people around you on your wedding day, your wedding photographer will probably be with you most. They will photograph you getting ready and spending time before the event and perhaps be around all the way until you leave the venue.
Your photographer remains constantly around you, having been hired to capture every memory and every moment without being noticed. If theyíre good at their job, youíll hardly notice theyíre there. Your photographer will ensure every shot is perfect and no detail is amiss, such as a lipstick stain on the teeth, or button holes that are wonky.
By fixing any little issues they can help you get better images. Your wedding planner will not be your shadow all day in Loxwood, but your photographer will. Your photographer will calm emotions when they heighten and ensure that people get to the right place at the right time.
The Epitome of Patience
As a wedding couple, you should engage the services of a wedding photographer that helps you feel comfortable. Youíre going to be spending a lot of time with this person on your wedding day. You donít want to spend all that time second-guessing your decision.
The professional photographer you choose should have an excellent skill set; great technically, the patience of a saint, the persuasive skills of a sales person and the empathetic and emotional skills of a counsellor. They need to flow through the day in Loxwood with you, capturing the best of your personality through the lens. Rarely does a wedding go exactly to plan and a wedding photographer should always remain calm and in control throughout the day. An expert wedding photographer will adapt to the needs of the day and remain professional at all times.
What You Can Expect from a Wedding Photographer?
For most people, the wedding day will be the first time they find themselves in front of a professional photographerís camera lens. This can cause anxiety, especially if you are camera shy or tend to look awkward in photographs.
If you have spent a bit of time selecting the right wedding photographer for you, the photographer in Loxwood will do a few things in order to make the process better.
Theyíll Be There on Time and Be Professional
After looking at a photographer based on their reputation, the passion for their work and their portfolio of previous work, you can feel comfortable that you will have hired someone who is professional. Your wedding photographer should be punctual, personable and on time for your wedding schedule, as well as dressed appropriately. Your photographer should arrive early on the day, to scout the location having probably visited relevant locations several times already.
Rehearsing for the Wedding Day (The day before)
It is customary for church wedding ceremonies to have a rehearsal a few days before the big day. In many cases you photographer will choose to attend this event and to speak to the presiding minister about where they can and cannot stand and what they can and cannot do during ceremony. If you choose to have a civil ceremony, then it will most likely be a chat with a registrar on the day of the wedding in Loxwood.
Wedding Day (The big day)
Your wedding photographer will take pictures of the bridal paraphernalia, the timing for this will be pre agreed. He will stay with you for the entire day and will mirror you through the day without interrupting. Itís crucial to the team at Jeff Woodall photography that every precious memory is captured on camera and that we remain unobtrusive, so the day can play out naturally; we are of course available for any questions and we strive to raise the spirits of everyone in the party. The Wedding Photo Editing Stage
The editing of wedding photographs takes place in the days after the wedding in Loxwood and is a crucial part of the wedding photography process. To tell the story of the wedding day the pictures need to capture the moments and so the first stage is going through all the photos and picking the best ones. The pictures that have been chosen, then go through a subtle editing approach, with light touches to enhance the images.
The images that are captured by Jeff Woodall photography are always crisp and sharp. Images are cropped and have their colours balanced where necessary, but is limited to minor adjustments. Some images will be converted to black and white and may have other styles applied as appropriate.
Once through the editing process, the images are exported to both USB and an online password protected gallery, for viewing by everyone that you want to give access. Weíll provide you with all the instructions you need for how to access the online gallery and how to share it with your family and friends and we’ll also send you the USB stick with easy to use instructions on how to share your photos online.
Once you have your photos, you’ll be looking for a way to present them and Jeff Woodall photography will be available to discuss the design of wedding photo books and to talk you through wedding album options. You probably have decided beforehand whether you wish to opt for a digital photo book album, the styles and colours etc., but it won’t be a short time after the ceremony that you decide which images you would like it to contain.
80 images is around the number you should be looking to choose, but your photographer will guide you on this. Your photographer then goes about the task of designing the album.
The amazing wedding photography package you will get in Loxwood
Wedding photography packages ñ what is included?
Here is a summary of what you will typically find in a wedding photography package. Some of the items are self-explanatory and take care of themselves, whereas others are very important. Number of events to be photographed
From the engagement party, the bridal shower, the wedding ceremony, reception and after party. Some of the events the photographer will almost certainly be at, include the wedding ceremony and the after party, but you need to decide whether he attends the bridal shower, the engagement party and how long he stays on during the after party. You need to communicate the dates and times of events with the photographer.
Number of hours for the shoot in Loxwood
Generally, each assignment the photographer takes will be priced up largely based on the anticipated hours it will take. At Jeff Woodall Photography we tend to use this method of pricing for events and for portraits, but we understand that each wedding has a bespoke schedule and that we need to be flexible to go with the day and so we work a little differently.
You are probably familiar with photographers offering ëPlatinumí, ëGoldí, ëSilverí and ëBronzeí wedding packages in Loxwood. This way of doing things can get over complicated and even more so when additional options and extras are added to the mix. I now prefer to work on a fixed price for the full day’s coverage. Obviously, this is within reason, but I tend to arrive well early to get shots of getting ready and to remain long after the first dance, because there is still additional photographic value to be had. We understand that things can run a little off schedule and don’t want you to be billed for an extra hour here or there if a ëSilverí or ëGoldí package, didn’t cover the hours to fully record your event. In cases where weddings are overseas, or in remote locations, there would need to be some negotiation regarding fuel or flights, food and accommodation.
Different Styles and How They’re Different
Fine Art Photography
Photojournalistic specialists and fine art photographers donít normally tend to shoot many purely traditional images. Rather, they photograph with an appreciation for the artistic side of people, the lighting options and the overall drama of the scene. The Fine Art photographer in Loxwood is adept in the use of black and white photography and at producing less candid, beautifully composed photos, full of drama and artistic beauty.
Vintage Style Photography
Vintage photo filters have become quite popular over the last decade and has resulted in more demand for this style of photography. The market for couples who want vintage style weddings and photography has become quite large. With vintage images there is certainly a timeless quality that can stir nostalgic emotion, which may be the cause of such an increase in the appeal of this artistic style. Vintage photography in Loxwood is regarded as almost an art form, where the ordinary is transformed into stunning evocative images using colour filters and specialist lighting.
Traditional or Classical
Seemingly spontaneous and ad hoc moments often tend to actually be taken as posed portraits with traditional or classical photography. This won’t make the photograph appear forced or posed, but it’s likely that few spontaneous ëaction shotsí will be included in the mix. The aim of traditional photography is to capture moments with dignity and artistry, using many posed shots, including many formal images, under a range of lighting options.
Photojournalistic or Reportage
Photojournalism looks to record moments on camera, rather than orchestrating specific staged shots. With this type of photography, you’ll get the happy shots of guests together during the day, as well as more spontaneous and candid photos; the obligatory group shots and the formal bride and groom photos will of course also be included. The photo journalistic photographer tends not to orchestrate moments and poses but would rather look to capture the genuinely spontaneous action and close up reactions of guests and the wedding couple.
Black and White (Monochrome)
With black-and-white photographs you get a timeless and classical feel to images. Many clients appreciate how the nostalgia and mood of images can be enhanced by removing colour. Everyone has a different preference. Some people really don’t like monochrome images, but black and white photographs can tend to enhance the feeling of atmosphere when done well, helping to focus attention on the subjects of the images. Black and white photographs have the capacity to really enhance the atmosphere of an image, that is sometimes lost in the colour option.
Colour Popped and HDR Techniques
Attention to detail during the shoot and excellent editing skills are required for this type of photography technique. If you like photographs that are enhanced with that occasional pop of colour, or dramatic high dynamic range, your photographer will have the skill to choose the right scenes sparingly, to professionally execute the shot and to skillfully edit to produce stunning results.
