Why engage a wedding photographer for your big day?

If your wedding day is just around the corner, then you have probably planned most of what you need to plan. You’ve arranged the venue, chosen your cake and booked a caterer. Your wedding dress is perfect, your wedding theme is arranged and the flowers chosen.

The benefits of having an expert wedding photographer

The photography equipment and software that a professional wedding photographer you hire in Breach will use will ensure that you get the best quality images possible.

As well as a wealth of knowledge and experience, wedding photographers in Breach have access to premium photography equipment and software to enable them to capture the best wedding pictures possible.

The equipment that wedding photographers use goes far beyond the camera, which is only a part of what it takes to achieve the quality photography you need at your wedding. The quality of the cameras on smartphones these days makes it very tempting to turn to them for wedding photography. This might be a huge mistake. Every wedding couple wants the highest quality and most skillfully composed photographs possible, to remember their wedding day by. Let’s delve deeper into what a professional wedding photographer in Breach can bring to your wedding day and how they add value.

Knowledge with the latest camera equipment and the use of it in varying situations. A photographer is only as good as the lenses they use and the skills they possess and a full appreciation of lighting. Professional wedding photographers tend to have much better equipment and much more experience in using a diverse range of setups. Although DSLR cameras are available to anyone, it takes experience and proficiency to capture the best possible photos and get the most out of any camera. The person using the equipment and the quality of equipment being used are equally important. The ideal scenario is that you have the best equipment available and a highly skilled professional photographer to be able to get the most out of it. This includes choosing the right equipment and camera settings for indoor and outdoor shots at the venue and the changing conditions at both.

The Role the Photographer Plays

One other very good reason to hire a professional wedding photographer in Breach, instead of using a relative, is that theyíre less likely to become distracted. The professional photographer wonít be striving to enjoy the day and become part of the celebration, like a family member would want to do.

They wonít miss that precious moment whilst chatting with wedding guests, having a beer or grabbing a slice of cake. They will be concentrating on the job of getting the best possible pictures they can for your wedding.

Something else that is a factor is that wedding guests tend to respect photo opportunities much more when they are gently marshalled by professional photographers. If a relative is trying to organise a photo session, it might end up far less organised than if a professional were doing it.

The Photography Style

In order to get a specific photographic style, you need a professional photographer whose style matches what youíre looking for. Not many amateurs are familiar with the differences between photojournalistic, fine art, traditional or contemporary styles.

Can an amateur photographer capture photos the way you want them? In most cases, they will fall short. Donít rush into a decision; think about the style you want and get a photographer that can match it. Choose a professional who can immediately understand your style ideas when you explain them.

A Reliable and Communicative Professional

A professional photographer is normally a much better choice than an amateur photographer or enthusiast and weíve already touched on a few other reasons so far. Itís easy to understate how a professional photographer can contribute to the day; blending into the background when necessary and getting involved to smooth the schedule and push things along when time is getting tight.

A professional photographer will be able to communicate effectively with your guests and keep the photo sessions flowing, by effectively getting people where they need to be. They will have a smooth touch, using body language, cues and verbal commands to get things done while keeping the positive atmosphere of your big day in Breach. Amateur photographers find it incredibly difficult to maintain the necessary distance, humour, intimacy and support along with effectively communicating to get the perfect shot.

Professional Wedding Photographers Are a Better Choice

You spend more time with your wedding photographer than anyone else on your wedding day. The wedding photographer will take preamble shots at the start of the day, shots at the venue, pictures at the reception and perhaps even pictures as you leave the venue at the end of the day.

From the start of the day to the end of the day, your wedding photographer will be around you, capturing every special moment without intruding on your day. If theyíre good at their job, youíll hardly notice theyíre there. Your photographer will ensure every shot is perfect and no detail is amiss, such as a lipstick stain on the teeth, or button holes that are wonky.

Their detailed focus will help you fix any little issues and get better photos. Your wedding planner will have lots of other things to do and wonít shadow you all day in Breach, not like your photographer will. Your photographer will calm emotions when they heighten and ensure that people get to the right place at the right time.

The Epitome of Patience

Every wedding couple needs to hire a photographer that they feel comfortable around. Youíre going to be spending a lot of time with this person on your wedding day. You donít want to spend all that time second-guessing your decision.

The professional photographer you choose should have an excellent skill set; great technically, the patience of a saint, the persuasive skills of a sales person and the empathetic and emotional skills of a counsellor. They need to flow with you and help the lens to capture your personality at its best throughout your special day in Breach. An experienced professional will recognise that things rarely go exactly according to plan and will remain calm and effective throughout. An expert wedding photographer is flexible and goes with the flow of the event, while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

What to Expect from Your Wedding Photographer?

For a lot of wedding couples, their wedding day is the first time a professional wedding photographer has their camera lens pointed at them. If you donít like the way you look in photographs, this can prove to be a fairly stressful situation.

Having invested some time to choose the right wedding photographer, you can be assured that they will do certain things to make the process less stressful.

Professional Conduct and Prompt Time Keeping

If you hire people for the right reasons, such as their passion, reputation and having looked at their work, professionalism will be a given. Itís important that the wedding photographer you choose gets there on time, has a great attitude and gets on with people. Your photographer should get to your wedding venues earlier than the guests so that they can get a feel for the environment; they will probably have been to some of the venues already in order to understand the limitations and possibilities.

Rehearsals for the Wedding Day

Church weddings tend to have a rehearsal date within a week of the main event. Your wedding photographer may well want to attend this wedding rehearsal to speak to the Vicar about where to stand during the ceremony and to find out more about the venue. If you choose to have a civil ceremony, then it will most likely be a chat with a registrar on the day of the wedding in Breach.

Wedding Day (The big day)

Your wedding photographer will tend to arrive to take photos of the bridal presentations, the timings will have been agreed. He will remain with you for the whole day, without interrupting, obstructing or in any way affecting the flow of the day. Jeff Woodall photographyís ethos is to be very subtle, at staying in the background without interrupting the day, but being available to keep spirits high and answer any difficult questions, making sure that every single memory is captured in digital format. Jeff Woodall photography prides itself on its ability to remain unobtrusive but to always be available for questions and to keep spirits high, ensuring that no beautifully precious moment is lost.

Your wedding photographer will have a discussion with you sometime after the first dance to find out if you need any more precious moments captured. The photographer will start to backup the photos if you are happy that they have captured all the moments you need. Jeff Woodall photography will keep all photos backed up on a storage device until they have been through the editing suite process and are delivered to your satisfaction. We fully understand that your photographs are precious and need to be looked after.

Editing Wedding Photographs

The editing of wedding photographs takes place in the days after the wedding in Breach and is a crucial part of the wedding photography process. The first step is to select the best images that tell the story of your wedding. The editing of the digital photographs then begins with a light touch approach that ensures a subtle process of enhancement.

Jeff Woodall photography only use beautifully sharp images. During post processing, the images undergo some minor editing. They are colour balanced and cropped. Some images will be converted to black and white and may have other styles applied as appropriate.

The pictures are then prepared and uploaded for viewing, by anyone you want to give access in an online password protected Gallery. They are also provided to you on a presentation USB stick. Weíll provide you with all the instructions you need for how to access the online gallery and how to share it with your family and friends and we’ll also send you the USB stick with easy to use instructions on how to share your photos online.

Helping clients down the line

Once you have your photos, you’ll be looking for a way to present them and Jeff Woodall photography will be available to discuss the design of wedding photo books and to talk you through wedding album options. Even if you’ve set your mind to the style and design of your digital photo book album, it can take a bit of time after the wedding day to decide on which photos to include.

Typically the photographer will ask you to choose 80 or so images. Your photographer then goes about the task of designing the album.

Below is a list of the what is included in a wedding photography package. Some of the items are self-explanatory and take care of themselves, whereas others are very important. Which events the photographer should attend.

You can choose to have the photographer at any event including the engagement party, the bridal shower, the wedding ceremony and of course the wedding reception and after party. This will be early on in the decision-making process and will be divided into a number of days that you need the photographer. You need to communicate which events you want captured to get them in the diary.

How many hours you want the photographer for the shoot in Breach

Typically, a photographer will work out pricing based on the number of hours they need to put into any assignment. At Jeff Woodall Photography we tend to use this method of pricing for events and for portraits, but we understand that each wedding has a bespoke schedule and that we need to be flexible to go with the day and so we work a little differently.

If you have looked around already, then you probably know that photographers frequently have different packages that they offer such as a ëPlatinumí, ëgoldí, ëSilverí and a ëBronzeí package in Breach. When you start adding extras to these packages it all becomes a bit of a logistical nightmare to understand or work out the overall price. I find it works better to have a set price for a full day’s coverage. Obviously, I’m not going to give hours of my time for free, but I’m happy to arrive early to get some shots, or stay after the first dance if there’s extra photos that need to be captured. We know you don’t want to have an extra hour billed after the event, just because your schedule fell behind and the eight hours you paid for in the ëSilver packageí didn’t cover the full day. If there is travel involved to the wedding ceremony there would need to be some negotiation over the expenses involved in terms of accommodation, fuel or flights, food and refreshments.

Wedding photography Services List

Below is a summary list of wedding photography services :

What are the differences between all these different styles?

Fine Art Photography

Fine art photographers normally steer clear of too many traditional shots, in the same way that photojournalistic photographers do. Instead, they use an artistic approach to capture elements, people and events, with a subtle use of effective lighting techniques. The Fine Art photographer in Breach prefers to pack their photos with art and drama, often using black and white as a filter.

Vintage Style Photography

Vintage photo filters have become quite popular over the last decade and has resulted in more demand for this style of photography. The number of weddings that are being photographed with a vintage wedding theme in mind, seems to be steadily growing. This style of photography can bring with it an ageless, timeless quality and has the power to stir emotions and maybe this is why more and more people are seeing the appeal in it. The use of colour filters and lighting can help to transform images into works of art during the process of capturing images of a vintage theme in Breach.

Traditional or Classical

With traditional or classical photography, nearly every picture is considered to be a posed portrait, even those moments that may appear to be more spontaneous. With this style of photography, you are likely to get more static images than spontaneous flowing, action shots, although the images you get won’t feel overly staged. The wedding ceremony will be captured with the aim of taking pictures that are artistic and functional, but perhaps driven less by drama or emotion.

Photojournalistic or Reportage

This style of photography is less about orchestrating and creating moments to capture on camera, than reporting those special moments of the day. As always, the necessary formal shots will be taken, as well as a number of spontaneous happy shots group shots during the day. The photo journalistic photographer tends not to orchestrate moments and poses but would rather look to capture the genuinely spontaneous action and close up reactions of guests and the wedding couple.

Black and White (Monochrome)

This style is excellent for timeless, classical, emotion-packed photographs. Black-and-white photos are appreciated by many for their ability to enhance the mood and atmosphere of the scene being depicted. It’s all about preference. Monochrome images may not appeal so much to some people, but it can produce more compelling photos as it sometimes helps the context and the subject to shine through. Removing the colour from images and creating black and white can evoke a certain ambience within photographs that colour sometimes lacks.

Colour Popped and HDR Techniques

This area of photography requires skill in techniques that involve shooting with a lot of attention to detail and the post processing becomes a little more complex too. Photographers who use HDR and colour popping techniques have the awareness, the creative eye and the technical photographic and editing capabilities to produce stunning images.
