The Importance of Wedding Photography.

When you look at your list of priorities for your wedding in Whitehawk, the wedding photographer may not necessarily be up there at the top.

You should invest some time in planning your wedding photography though. You need to get a photographer in Whitehawk booked well in advance and have a clear budget for your wedding images. It’s not always easy to capture those precious moments, so you need a wedding photographer with talent, experience and the right equipment to do your special event justice. Your wedding images will be the way you share your memories of the day with friends, family, children and future generations.

Your wedding photos will capture cherished memories that you can turn to time and time again. The day after your wedding in Whitehawk, your wedding dress will be packed away, your shoes boxed up, the flowers will wither and you’ll be finishing off the last crumbs of the wedding cake. but your wedding photographs will forever be yours to share on social media, look at during those quiet moments and enjoy with your loved ones, so take them seriously and make sure that you commission talented professionals!

Why hire a professional photographer for your wedding?

The planning for your wedding day is probably almost done if your wedding is coming up soon. You’ve planned the catering side of things, chosen the cake and booked the venue. Your wedding dress is getting its final alterations, your flowers are all on order and the decorations and table centrepieces are all in hand.

The wedding photographs are next on the list. Perhaps you’re considering asking your nephew to do it since he’s an amateur photographer.

The money you save on the photographs could be used to cover other wedding expenses. You should definitely not go down this path.

Your wedding photos should be entrusted to a professional wedding photographer

The savings you make by using an amateur photographer are not worth the risk you are taking of being left with poor quality images to look back on. Remember, some special moments happen only once in a lifetime, yet the photos will stay with you forever.

The benefits of having a professional wedding photographer

When you choose to hire a professional wedding photographer in Whitehawk the pictures you receive will be quality, in high resolution, captured with the best photography equipment and edited with skill, using professional editing software.

Using their knowledge and skills, together with camera and equipment of superior technology and editing with the latest software, your wedding photographer in Whitehawk will be able to produce beautiful and unique images that will make your day..

The equipment that wedding photographers use goes far beyond the camera, which is only a part of what it takes to achieve the quality photography you need at your wedding. The quality of the cameras on smartphones these days makes it very tempting to turn to them for wedding photography. This could probably be one of the biggest mistakes you make. Every wedding couple wants the highest quality and most skillfully composed photographs possible, to remember their wedding day by. We’ll take a more in depth look now at what you get when you hire a professional wedding photographer in Whitehawk, which adds that extra value and makes it worth your while.

Camera equipment expertise, as well as being able to deal with indoor and outdoor lighting. A photographerís resultant images will not be as impressive as they could be if they don’t have a variety of camera lenses and the knowledge and skills to use them, together with various lighting options. Professional wedding photographers tend to have much better equipment and much more experience in using a diverse range of setups. Although DSLR cameras are available to anyone, it takes experience and proficiency to capture the best possible photos and get the most out of any camera. The person using the equipment and the quality of equipment being used are equally important. The ideal situation is that you have an expert photographer who can use top of the range equipment to its full potential. This includes being able to take great pictures in different photographic lighting conditions, indoors and outdoors, with different natural and artificial light at the venue.

Photographerís Roles

Another very good reason to engage the services of a professional wedding photographer in Whitehawk is that theyíre going to be far less likely to become distracted than a family member or relative charged with capturing the dayís event. The professional photographer wonít be striving to enjoy the day and become part of the celebration, like a family member would want to do.

A photographer wonít be off-duty, drinking alcohol or eating cake when they should be capturing an important shot. They will be fully concentrating on the job, taking every opportunity to capture the special moments of your wedding day, whilst keeping it very low key.

Another thing to consider is that guests are more likely to respect photoshoots when theyíre aware that the photographers are paid professionals. Photoshoots taken by a relative tend to be less organised and taken less seriously than those arranged by professionals.

Diverse Styles of Photography

If you have in mind a particular photographic style, then you should hire a professional that is an expert in that area or style. How many amateurs do you think are even aware of the differences between fine art, contemporary, traditional, or photojournalistic photography styles?

Can an amateur photographer capture photos the way you want them? In most cases, they will fall short. Take some time to consider what you want and then ensure that the photographer you use is able to capture the style that you want. Go with a professional photographer who can quickly understand what it is you are trying to achieve.

A Reliable and Communicative Professional

A professional photographer really is a better choice than going for an amateur relative or enthusiast friend in most cases and there are lots of other reasons why. Itís easy to understate how a professional photographer can contribute to the day; blending into the background when necessary and getting involved to smooth the schedule and push things along when time is getting tight.

A professional wedding photographer will have the communication skills to organise groups, move people and find out exactly what you want throughout the day. They will be able to use signals and body language, as well as their voice, to get people where they need to be in a pleasant way, enhancing the atmosphere of your celebration in Whitehawk. Amateur photographers find it incredibly difficult to maintain the necessary distance, humour, intimacy and support along with effectively communicating to get the perfect shot.

Expert Wedding Photographers Give You more

Thereís no person youíll be spending more time with on your wedding day than your photographer. From the shots of you getting ready and preparing to go to church all the way to the moment you leave the wedding venue, the photographer is there.

Your photographer remains constantly around you, having been hired to capture every memory and every moment without being noticed. The best wedding photographers are practically invisible, until you need a photo taken. Your photographer will ensure every shot is perfect and no detail is amiss, such as a lipstick stain on the teeth, or button holes that are wonky.

They are there to help you get the best pictures and will try and fix anything that is in the way of that goal. Your wedding planner will have lots of other things to do and wonít shadow you all day in Whitehawk, not like your photographer will. The experience of the photographer will help to ensure that the wedding party know where they are going and when and help to alleviate any anxiety or emotions as they arise.

Patience Is the Key

Every wedding couple needs to hire a photographer that they feel comfortable around. The amount of time youíre going to spend with this person on your special day really is significant. That decision needs to feel right.

The photographer should have a great mix of patience, empathy and skills of persuasion, as well as technically superb. They need to flow through the day in Whitehawk with you, capturing the best of your personality through the lens. Rarely does a wedding go exactly to plan and a wedding photographer should always remain calm and in control throughout the day. An expert wedding photographer is flexible and goes with the flow of the event, while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

What You Can Expect from a Wedding Photographer?

For most people, the wedding day will be the first time they find themselves in front of a professional photographerís camera lens. As well as being anxious about the big day, having a camera pointed at you all day can make you feel even more uncomfortable, especially if you feel that photos donít generally flatter you.

If you have spent a bit of time selecting the right wedding photographer for you, the photographer in Whitehawk will do a few things in order to make the process better.

Do you need a quality, friendly and relaxed professional photographer for your Wedding? Give me call today.

Theyíll Be There on Time and Be Professional

Professionalism comes naturally if you hire someone based on their reputation and passion. Itís important that the wedding photographer you choose gets there on time, has a great attitude and gets on with people. Your wedding photographer should get there ahead of schedule to take a look around and find their vantage points for the day.

The Wedding Rehearsal on the Day Before the Wedding

It is customary for church wedding ceremonies to have a rehearsal a few days before the big day. Your wedding photographer may well want to attend this wedding rehearsal to speak to the Vicar about where to stand during the ceremony and to find out more about the venue. The registrar will normally be consulted on the day of the wedding with civil ceremonies, in order for the wedding photographer to get the information they need.

Wedding Day (The big day)

Your photographer will arrive at the agreed time to capture the bridal presentations. You will have his undivided attention for the whole day, but without interrupting in any way. The goal at Jeff Woodall photography is to ensure that every precious moment is captured, but to remain unobtrusive and in the background until such a time as you have questions to answer, or you need some help. Jeff Woodall photography will be poised to capture all of the beautiful moments through the day, without intruding in any way.

At some point in the night, often after the first dance, your wedding photographer will check with you to find out if thereís anything else you would like to be pictured. The backing up process will begin if you are happy for your photographer to call it a day. Jeff Woodall photography will keep all photos backed up on a storage device until they have been through the editing suite process and are delivered to your satisfaction. We fully understand that your photographs are precious and need to be looked after.

The Editing of Wedding Photographs

Editing is a crucial stage in the wedding photography process and will be completed within the days that follow the event in Whitehawk. At the start of the editing stage, the photos need to be sifted through so that the best ones can be selected. The pictures that have been chosen, then go through a subtle editing approach, with light touches to enhance the images.

The images that are captured by Jeff Woodall photography are always crisp and sharp. Images are cropped and have their colours balanced where necessary, but is limited to minor adjustments. Some images will be converted to black and white and may have other styles applied as appropriate.

Once through the editing process, the images are exported to both USB and an online password protected gallery, for viewing by everyone that you want to give access. If you want to share access to your wedding photos on your own online gallery, weíll give you instructions on how to do so, as well as providing a high-definition backup of all your photos on a USB stick.

Here to help after event

Once you have your photos, you’ll be looking for a way to present them and Jeff Woodall photography will be available to discuss the design of wedding photo books and to talk you through wedding album options. Even if you’ve set your mind to the style and design of your digital photo book album, it can take a bit of time after the wedding day to decide on which photos to include.

80 images is around the number you should be looking to choose, but your photographer will guide you on this. The design process will then begin, as your photographer works on the album.

Here is a list of things included in a wedding photography package

Here is a summary of what you will typically find in a wedding photography package. Some of the items are self-explanatory and take care of themselves, whereas others are very important. Which events you want the photographer at.

You’ll probably want the photographer for the wedding ceremony and some or all of the after-party but itís worth thinking about whether you want photos from the bridal shower and the engagement party too. This will be early on in the decision-making process and will be divided into a number of days that you need the photographer. Following discussion and decisions you need to get the dates organised and communicate them to the photographer.

How many hours of shooting in Whitehawk

Photographers will normally price up based on the likely time involved. At Jeff Woodall Photography we tend to use this method of pricing for events and for portraits, but we understand that each wedding has a bespoke schedule and that we need to be flexible to go with the day and so we work a little differently.

Photographers often [I used to] have different packages in Whitehawk i.e. ëPlatinumí, ëGoldí, ëSilverí, ëBronzeí, etc. This way of doing things can get over complicated and even more so when additional options and extras are added to the mix. I now prefer to work on a fixed price for the full day’s coverage. I don’t quibble over the extra hour we were there, due to late starts etc. Travelling to and accommodation at weddings. For wedding ceremonies that are a long way away and need significant travel or even flights, there would be some negotiation required over accommodation, fuel, flights, food and refreshments.

Wedding photography Services List

Below is a summary list of wedding photography services :

How Wedding Styles Really Differ

Fine Art Photography

Fine art photographers normally steer clear of too many traditional shots, in the same way that photojournalistic photographers do. They prefer to take an artistic view and capture elements, events and people with that mindset, always looking for dramatic lighting and backgrounds. Fine Art photographers in Whitehawk have a flair for the dramatic and always looking for the artistic side when composing and staging their photos, often using different filters, including black and white.

Vintage Style Photography

Vintage image filters have become very popular and so this style of photography has quickly evolved. The market for couples who want vintage style weddings and photography has become quite large. Photographs of the Vintage style are timeless, old and has the power to stir emotions in people, which is perhaps why the style has become so appealing. Vintage photography in Whitehawk is regarded as almost an art form, where the ordinary is transformed into stunning evocative images using colour filters and specialist lighting.

Traditional or Classical

Even apparently spontaneous shots are often treated as staged portrait pictures with traditional or classical photography. You’re less likely to get action shots with this type of photography, although every moment will be captured in a natural way that doesn’t feel forced or posed. The wedding ceremony will be captured with the aim of taking pictures that are artistic and functional, but perhaps driven less by drama or emotion.

Photojournalistic or Reportage

Similar to a documentary style, photojournalism photography is about recording the event, rather than orchestrating them. The formal shots you would expect at every wedding, will be captured, as well as group and individual ëgrip and griní wedding guest shots. The photo journalistic photographer tends not to orchestrate moments and poses but would rather look to capture the genuinely spontaneous action and close up reactions of guests and the wedding couple.

Black and White (Monochrome)

With black-and-white photographs you get a timeless and classical feel to images. Many clients appreciate how the nostalgia and mood of images can be enhanced by removing colour. It really comes down to what you prefer. Not everyone prefers monochrome images, but there’s no doubt that photographs can be made more compelling by emphasising areas of focus and the composition with this method. Removing the colour from images and creating black and white can evoke a certain ambience within photographs that colour sometimes lacks.

Colour Popped and HDR Techniques

This area of photography requires skill in techniques that involve shooting with a lot of attention to detail and the post processing becomes a little more complex too. The photographer that uses HDR and colour popped techniques will use them sparingly, only with the right images, to maximise the impact of those colour popped or high dynamic scenes.
