Main Reasons Wedding Photography Is Important.

Hiring a wedding photographer might not be at the top of your list when it comes to planning for your big day in Southern-Cross.

You should invest some time in planning your wedding photography though. It needs to be budgeted for and thought of well ahead of your special day in Southern-Cross. Your wedding day is made up of lots of little precious memories and you need a professional wedding photographer with the ability to capture the essence of every little moment. Your wedding images will be the way you share your memories of the day with friends, family, children and future generations.

Your wedding photos will capture cherished memories that you can turn to time and time again. When your wedding day in Southern-Cross is over, your bridal shoes and gown will go into storage, the flowers will wither and be cleared away and the wedding cake will have been eaten. but your wedding photographs will remain with you, along with the memories, to reminisce, share and enjoy, so ensure that you take them seriously!

Why hire a professional photographer for your wedding?

The planning for your wedding day is probably almost done if your wedding is coming up soon. The venue is all booked and planned, the cake is being made and your catering is sorted. You’ve picked your wedding gown, the centrepieces and the flowers.

You are now thinking about capturing the precious memories of your big day as photographic images. Perhaps you’re considering asking your nephew to do it since he’s an amateur photographer.

The savings you make on the wedding photography costs could be handy in other areas. You should definitely not go down this path.

A professional wedding photographer should take your photos

The savings you make by using an amateur photographer are not worth the risk you are taking of being left with poor quality images to look back on. The photographer only has seconds to capture those once in a lifetime moment in photos that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Benefits of hiring pro-wedding photography

Having hired a professional wedding photographer in Southern-Cross, you are assured of the highest quality images, created and edited using the best expertise, cameras and photo editing software.

The professional wedding photographer you hire in Southern-Cross will be able to capture fantastic images with their skill, state-of-the-art cameras and equipment and edited to a superb standard using the latest software.

The equipment that wedding photographers use goes far beyond the camera, which is only a part of what it takes to achieve the quality photography you need at your wedding. The advent of camera phones has for some become a tempting way to try and save money on wedding photography. This might be a huge mistake. Every wedding day deserves photographs that are captured skillfully, in the style of your choosing. Let me explain a bit more about how a wedding photographer in Southern-Cross can add value to your photos and why it’s worth paying for them.

Camera equipment expertise, as well as being able to deal with indoor and outdoor lighting. A wedding photographer will not be able to produce fantastic pictures in all conditions if they don’t have the lenses for the situation, the lighting options, or don’t have the skill to use them. Professional wedding photographers are better, not just because of their skill and experience, but also the equipment that they use. Anyone can buy a DSLR camera, but it takes great skill to unlock the potential of the equipment. The skill of the person taking the photos is highly important, but they also need the right equipment to produce top results. What you need to get the best wedding photography experience is high end, appropriate camera equipment and a seasoned wedding photography professional who knows how to use it to its full potential. This includes various photographic lighting options, which might be necessary depending on the degree of ambient light available due to the weather conditions or the available light at the chosen venues.

Photographerís Roles

Another reason to hire a professional wedding photographer in Southern-Cross, rather than trusting a family member or a friend with the task, is it they will be less distracted. A professional photographer wonít be looking to get involved with the celebrations like a family member would.

They wonít miss important shots while eating a slice of cake, drinking alcohol or chit chatting with relatives. Theyíll be concentrating on the job in hand, candidly capturing some of the best images they can for the duration of the event.

Another thing to consider is that guests are more likely to respect photoshoots when theyíre aware that the photographers are paid professionals. Photoshoots taken by a relative tend to be less organised and taken less seriously than those arranged by professionals.

Skill with Different Styles of Photography

In order to get a specific photographic style, you need a professional photographer whose style matches what youíre looking for. If you asked the majority of amateur photographers what the difference is between fine art, contemporary, traditional or photojournalistic photography styles, most wouldnít have a clue.

Can they deliver what you want the way you want it? Often, this is not the case. Take some time to consider what you want and then ensure that the photographer you use is able to capture the style that you want. Once you have a style in mind, hire a photographer that can picture what it is you want.

A Great Communicator and Reliable, too

There are many more reasons that a professional photographer is a better choice than using a relative or enthusiast. A professional photographer will have the experience to ensure that photo sessions remain within the schedule and do not detract from other parts of the day.

A professional wedding photographer will be able to communicate effectively and persuasively with guests to ensure they are where they need to be. They will have a smooth touch, using body language, cues and verbal commands to get things done while keeping the positive atmosphere of your big day in Southern-Cross. Amateur photographers find it incredibly difficult to maintain the necessary distance, humour, intimacy and support along with effectively communicating to get the perfect shot.

Professional Wedding Photographers Are a Better Choice

Of all the people around you on your wedding day, your wedding photographer will probably be with you most. From the shots of you getting ready and preparing to go to church all the way to the moment you leave the wedding venue, the photographer is there.

Your photographer remains constantly around you, having been hired to capture every memory and every moment without being noticed. If a photographer knows what theyíre doing, they wonít be noticed throughout the day. The photographer will notice if a picture is being spoiled by a lipstick stain on a collar, or a wonky handkerchief.

They are there to help you get the best pictures and will try and fix anything that is in the way of that goal. Your photographer will be your shadow all day in Southern-Cross, not your wedding planner. The experience of the photographer will help to ensure that the wedding party know where they are going and when and help to alleviate any anxiety or emotions as they arise.

A Patient Demeanor

As a wedding couple, you should engage the services of a wedding photographer that helps you feel comfortable. Youíre going to be spending a lot of time with this person on your wedding day. You want that decision to feel right at every moment of the day.

You need a technically proficient photographer with, empathy, patience, understanding and superb planning skills. They need to flow with you and help the lens to capture your personality at its best throughout your special day in Southern-Cross. Rarely does a wedding go exactly to plan and a wedding photographer should always remain calm and in control throughout the day. An expert wedding photographer will adapt to the needs of the day and remain professional at all times.

What to Expect from Your Wedding Photographer?

In many cases the day of the wedding is the first time people are in front of a professionalís camera. This can be a source of anxiety and worry, especially for those that donít like the way they look in photographs.

With time invested in choosing the right wedding photographer in Southern-Cross that will gel with you, you can feel comfortable that certain things will happen along the way.

A Professional Attitude and Good Time Keeping

After looking at a photographer based on their reputation, the passion for their work and their portfolio of previous work, you can feel comfortable that you will have hired someone who is professional. Your wedding photographer should be punctual, personable and on time for your wedding schedule, as well as dressed appropriately. By arriving early your wedding photographer will be able to scout the location and choose some excellent vantage points, although they will probably have visited your key event locations prior to the big day.

The Day Before the Wedding - the Rehearsal

Church wedding ceremonies normally have the custom of a wedding rehearsal a day or two before the wedding. Your photographer may want to find out from the Vicar where they should stand during the vows and which vantage points wedding photographers normally use in the church. The registrar will normally be consulted on the day of the wedding with civil ceremonies, in order for the wedding photographer to get the information they need.

The Big Day – the Wedding

Your wedding photographer will normally arrive to capture the bridal presentations, at a pre agreed time. You will have his undivided attention for the whole day, but without interrupting in any way. Jeff Woodall photography will be poised to capture all of the beautiful moments through the day, without intruding in any way. Jeff Woodall photographyís ethos is to be very subtle, at staying in the background without interrupting the day, but being available to keep spirits high and answer any difficult questions, making sure that every single memory is captured in digital format.

At some point in the night, often after the first dance, your wedding photographer will check with you to find out if thereís anything else you would like to be pictured. The backup process will begin once your photographer has completed their work. Every photo will be stored on a reliable backup storage device and kept safe until such a time as the photos have been through the full editing process and have been delivered to you to your satisfaction. We fully understand that your photographs are precious and need to be looked after.

The Wedding Photo Editing Stage

The editing of wedding photographs takes place in the days after the wedding in Southern-Cross and is a crucial part of the wedding photography process. To tell the story of the wedding day the pictures need to capture the moments and so the first stage is going through all the photos and picking the best ones. The editing of the digital photographs then begins with a light touch approach that ensures a subtle process of enhancement.

Jeff Woodall photography only use beautifully sharp images. Images are cropped and have their colours balanced where necessary, but is limited to minor adjustments. Some images will be converted to black and white and may have other styles applied as appropriate.

The photos are then ready to be exported from the photo editing suite into an online password protected gallery, as well as uploaded to a USB stick and delivered to you, ready for sharing on social media and for printing. We know that you’ll want to be sharing your beautiful wedding photos online and giving access to your family and friends. So, weíll provide instructions of how to share your online gallery access with everyone you want to and weíll provide you with a USB stick with high-definition pictures as well.

Client support - follow-up

At Jeff Woodall photography we will ensure we are accessible to help you find out about bespoke wedding photo books and any wedding albums that you might like. If you have already decided on a digital photo book album and know the style choices you want to go for, it’ll probably still take you a little while after the wedding to decide on which images to include.

Typically the photographer will ask you to choose 80 or so images. Your photographer then goes about the task of designing the album.

Wedding photography packages ñ what is included?

Below is a summary list of what a wedding photography package normally includes. Some of the items are self-explanatory and take care of themselves, whereas others are very important. The number of wedding events you want photos from.

From the engagement party, the bridal shower, the wedding ceremony, reception and after party. Some of the events the photographer will almost certainly be at, include the wedding ceremony and the after party, but you need to decide whether he attends the bridal shower, the engagement party and how long he stays on during the after party. You need to communicate which events you want captured to get them in the diary.

How many hours you want the photographer for the shoot in Southern-Cross

Generally, a photographer will use time as one of the main methods to price an assignment. With weddings, we understand that exact timings and schedule are very individual and that they need to go with the flow of your day. We need to be flexible and so we tend to take a different approach to pricing our wedding packages.

If you have looked around already, then you probably know that photographers frequently have different packages that they offer such as a ëPlatinumí, ëgoldí, ëSilverí and a ëBronzeí package in Southern-Cross. This way of doing things can get over complicated and even more so when additional options and extras are added to the mix. With me you get a full day’s coverage for a set price. I don’t quibble over the extra hour we were there, due to late starts etc. We know you don’t want to have an extra hour billed after the event, just because your schedule fell behind and the eight hours you paid for in the ëSilver packageí didn’t cover the full day. In cases where weddings are overseas, or in remote locations, there would need to be some negotiation regarding fuel or flights, food and accommodation.

Wedding photography Services List

Below is a summary list of wedding photography services :

A Look at the Differences in Styles

Fine Art Photography

Photojournalistic specialists and fine art photographers donít normally tend to shoot many purely traditional images. They prefer to take an artistic view and capture elements, events and people with that mindset, always looking for dramatic lighting and backgrounds. The Fine Art photographer in Southern-Cross prefers to pack their photos with art and drama, often using black and white as a filter.

Vintage Style Photography

Vintage image filters have become very popular and so this style of photography has quickly evolved. The number of weddings that are being photographed with a vintage wedding theme in mind, seems to be steadily growing. With vintage images there is certainly a timeless quality that can stir nostalgic emotion, which may be the cause of such an increase in the appeal of this artistic style. Vintage photography in Southern-Cross is regarded as almost an art form, where the ordinary is transformed into stunning evocative images using colour filters and specialist lighting.

Traditional or Classical

Even apparently spontaneous shots are often treated as staged portrait pictures with traditional or classical photography. You’re less likely to get action shots with this type of photography, although every moment will be captured in a natural way that doesn’t feel forced or posed. The aim of traditional photography is to capture moments with dignity and artistry, using many posed shots, including many formal images, under a range of lighting options.

Photojournalistic or Reportage

This style involves the recording of events as opposed to the staging of them. With this type of shot you will get all of the expected group and formal shots, as well as lots more spontaneous images as well as the normal ësmile for the cameraí roundups of guests throughout the day. The photo journalistic photographer is all about immortalizing the spontaneous reactions and emotions of the day as they happen, rather than orchestrating and staging their images.

Black and White (Monochrome)

This can be an effective way to present classic, timeless images. Many clients appreciate how the nostalgia and mood of images can be enhanced by removing colour. It really comes down to what you prefer. Not everyone prefers monochrome images, but there’s no doubt that photographs can be made more compelling by emphasising areas of focus and the composition with this method. Black and white photographs have the capacity to really enhance the atmosphere of an image, that is sometimes lost in the colour option.

Colour Popped and HDR Techniques

When shooting photographs and using this photo technique, each shot is rather complex with lots of elements to consider and the editing process is equally detailed. The photographer that uses HDR and colour popped techniques will use them sparingly, only with the right images, to maximise the impact of those colour popped or high dynamic scenes.
