Why you should hire a pro-wedding photographer
The planning for your wedding day is probably almost done if your wedding is coming up soon. You’ve booked your caterer, cake and the venue. Your wedding dress is getting its final alterations, your flowers are all on order and the decorations and table centrepieces are all in hand.
You are now thinking about capturing the precious memories of your big day as photographic images. Your uncle is a good amateur photographer and perhaps you’re considering asking him.
The money you save on the photographs could be used to cover other wedding expenses. This is a route that has been tried by many, but in truth has worked for very few.
A professional wedding photographer should take your photos
The benefits you get when you hire a photographer with significant experience of weddings are much greater than the monetary savings you’ll make when you get the photos taken for free. The photos that are taken must capture those special seconds that mean the most to you.
The benefits of having a professional wedding photographer
Hiring a professional wedding photographer in Mile-Oak means you will be left with pictures of the best quality, created using the best skills and equipment available.
When you hire professional photographers for your wedding in Mile-Oak, you get privileged access to the best photography knowledge and skills, together with the best equipment and software to produce the best quality pictures possible.
The equipment such as cameras, are just a part of what it takes to capture great wedding photographs. The advent of camera phones has for some become a tempting way to try and save money on wedding photography. This might be a huge mistake. We know everyone wants the best possible photos they can get for their wedding. We’ll take a more in depth look now at what you get when you hire a professional wedding photographer in Mile-Oak, which adds that extra value and makes it worth your while.
Camera equipment expertise and knowledge, together with many other elements such as weather and lighting variations. A wedding photographer will not be able to produce fantastic pictures in all conditions if they don’t have the lenses for the situation, the lighting options, or don’t have the skill to use them. Professional wedding photographers are better, not just because of their skill and experience, but also the equipment that they use. DSLR cameras are accessible to most amateurs, but their full potential is only really realised in the hands of experienced pros. The type of equipment used is crucial, but just as if not more important, is the person handling the equipment. The ideal situation is that you have an expert photographer who can use top of the range equipment to its full potential. This includes choosing the right equipment and camera settings for indoor and outdoor shots at the venue and the changing conditions at both.

The Photographerís Role
One other very good reason to hire a professional wedding photographer in Mile-Oak, instead of using a relative, is that theyíre less likely to become distracted. The professional photographer wonít be striving to enjoy the day and become part of the celebration, like a family member would want to do.
They wonít miss that crucial loving moment because theyíre eating cake, downing a beer, or chatting with wedding guests. Every moment theyíre there, their focus will be on unobtrusively capturing the best possible images that they can of the event.
Wedding guests are also far more likely to respond to a professional, paid wedding photographer than they would be to a relative barking orders. If a relative is trying to organise a photo session, it might end up far less organised than if a professional were doing it.
The Style of the Photography
If you are looking for photography that captures a certain style, then you should hire a photographer that is proficient in that style. If you asked the majority of amateur photographers what the difference is between fine art, contemporary, traditional or photojournalistic photography styles, most wouldnít have a clue.
Can they deliver what you want the way you want it? Often, this is not the case. Take a bit of time to understand what it is you want and then hire a photographer that can deliver that style. Once you have a style in mind, hire a photographer that can picture what it is you want.
A Great Communicator and Reliable, too
There are numerous other factors that contribute to a professional photographer being a better choice than an amateur photographer or enthusiast. Itís easy to understate how a professional photographer can contribute to the day; blending into the background when necessary and getting involved to smooth the schedule and push things along when time is getting tight.
A professional wedding photographer will get people where they need to be for each photo and plan all the photo sessions to ensure no one gets missed out, or no opportunity is missed. They will have a smooth touch, using body language, cues and verbal commands to get things done while keeping the positive atmosphere of your big day in Mile-Oak. An amateur photographer, no matter how much effort they put in, will not be able to maintain a balance between the necessary distance, humour, intimacy and support while still getting the perfect shots.
Professional Wedding Photographers Are a Better Choice
There arenít many people that you will spend more time on your wedding day than your wedding photographer. The wedding photographer will take preamble shots at the start of the day, shots at the venue, pictures at the reception and perhaps even pictures as you leave the venue at the end of the day.
You wedding photographer has been hired to capture every special moment of the day, whilst staying in the background unnoticed and will do that from start to end. If theyíre good at their job, youíll hardly notice theyíre there. The photographer will notice if a picture is being spoiled by a lipstick stain on a collar, or a wonky handkerchief.
By fixing any little issues they can help you get better images. Your wedding planner will not be your shadow all day in Mile-Oak, but your photographer will. The experience of the photographer will help to ensure that the wedding party know where they are going and when and help to alleviate any anxiety or emotions as they arise.
A Patient Demeanor
As a couple, you need to hire a professional photographer that you are comfortable with. Considering the amount of time this individual is going to be a major part of your wedding day, you need to choose wisely. That decision needs to feel right.
The photographer should have a great mix of patience, empathy and skills of persuasion, as well as technically superb. They need to go with the flow and be able to make your personality shine brightly on your special day in Mile-Oak. An experienced professional will recognise that things rarely go exactly according to plan and will remain calm and effective throughout. An expert wedding photographer will adapt to the needs of the day and remain professional at all times.
What to Expect When You Hire a Wedding Photographer?
For most people, the wedding day will be the first time they find themselves in front of a professional photographerís camera lens. This can be a source of anxiety and worry, especially for those that donít like the way they look in photographs.
Having spent some time considering the best professional wedding photographer in Mile-Oak to match the styles you want, you can now rest assured that they will do certain things to make the process run smoothly.
Promptness and Professionalism
If you hire people for the right reasons, such as their passion, reputation and having looked at their work, professionalism will be a given. Itís important that the wedding photographer you choose gets there on time, has a great attitude and gets on with people. Your photographer should arrive early on the day, to scout the location having probably visited relevant locations several times already.
Wedding Day Rehearsal (The day before)
Church wedding ceremonies normally have the custom of a wedding rehearsal a day or two before the wedding. Your photographer may want to find out from the Vicar where they should stand during the vows and which vantage points wedding photographers normally use in the church. If you choose to have a civil ceremony, then it will most likely be a chat with a registrar on the day of the wedding in Mile-Oak.
Wedding Day (The big day)
Your wedding photographer will normally arrive to capture the bridal presentations, at a pre agreed time. He will remain with you for the whole day, without interrupting, obstructing or in any way affecting the flow of the day. Itís crucial to the team at Jeff Woodall photography that every precious memory is captured on camera and that we remain unobtrusive, so the day can play out naturally; we are of course available for any questions and we strive to raise the spirits of everyone in the party. Jeff Woodall photography prides itself on its ability to remain unobtrusive but to always be available for questions and to keep spirits high, ensuring that no beautifully precious moment is lost.

All the photos will be fully backed up by Jeff Woodall photography, on 2 hard drives and the backups will be kept save until all wedding photos have been edited and delivered to you. We never underestimate the value of your photographs.
The Wedding Photo Editing Stage
Editing the images is an important part of preparing your wedding photography package, completed in the days after the wedding event in Mile-Oak. To tell the story of the wedding day the pictures need to capture the moments and so the first stage is going through all the photos and picking the best ones. The editing of the digital photographs then begins with a light touch approach that ensures a subtle process of enhancement.
The images that Jeff Woodall photography produce are always beautifully sharp. Images are cropped and have their colours balanced where necessary, but is limited to minor adjustments. Various effects can be achieved during the post processing of your images, including monochrome conversions.
The images are then exported and uploaded to an online password protected gallery, ready to be viewed by you, your friends and family as you wish. You will also be given all high resolution images on a USB stick. We know that you’ll want to be sharing your beautiful wedding photos online and giving access to your family and friends. So, weíll provide instructions of how to share your online gallery access with everyone you want to and weíll provide you with a USB stick with high-definition pictures as well.
Client support - follow-up
Jeff Woodall photography will always be on hand, accessible to talk about wedding photo album options and the design of wedding photo books if you so require them. You probably have decided beforehand whether you wish to opt for a digital photo book album, the styles and colours etc., but it won’t be a short time after the ceremony that you decide which images you would like it to contain.
In most cases the photo book capacity will be around 80 images. Your photographer then begins the design work to create your stunning album.
The amazing wedding photography package you will get in Mile-Oak
Wedding photography packages ñ what is included?
Below is a summary list of what a wedding photography package normally includes. Some of the items you may not need to go through in detail, whilst others are highly important. The number of wedding events you want photos from.
You need to decide whether you want the photographer at your engagement party and bridal shower, whether the photographer stays for the after-party and of course what time he arrives at the wedding ceremony. This will be early on in the decision-making process and will be divided into a number of days that you need the photographer. You need to communicate the dates and times of events with the photographer.
The shoot duration in Mile-Oak
Generally, a photographer will use time as one of the main methods to price an assignment. At Jeff Woodall Photography we tend to use this method of pricing for events and for portraits, but we understand that each wedding has a bespoke schedule and that we need to be flexible to go with the day and so we work a little differently.
Photographers often [I used to] have different packages in Mile-Oak i.e. ëPlatinumí, ëGoldí, ëSilverí, ëBronzeí, etc. When you start adding extras to these packages it all becomes a bit of a logistical nightmare to understand or work out the overall price. I now prefer to work on a fixed price for the full day’s coverage. Iím yours for the day and won’t mind doing the odd extra hour and won’t be clock-watching. The last thing you want to hear after that, is that you have been billed for an extra hour, as you only paid for the ëSilverí package of eight hours and for various reasons things ran late. In cases where weddings are overseas, or in remote locations, there would need to be some negotiation regarding fuel or flights, food and accommodation.
What are the differences between all these different styles?
Fine Art Photography
Just as with photography of a photojournalistic style, fine art photographers don’t normally take that many shots that are of a traditional nature. Events, people and elements are photographed with a more artistic approach, with the use of various lighting techniques. Typically, a fine art photographer in Mile-Oak is highly skilled at creating and staging photos that are artistic and beautifully full of drama, applying filters to photos during editing, including often using monochrome conversions.
Vintage Style Photography
Vintage image filters have become very popular and so this style of photography has quickly evolved. More and more weddings are seeing photographers using a vintage photography style. Photographs of the Vintage style are timeless, old and has the power to stir emotions in people, which is perhaps why the style has become so appealing. Vintage photography done well in Mile-Oak, transforms ordinary images into artistic work of art using colour filters and various props and lighting tricks.
Traditional or Classical
Even apparently spontaneous shots are often treated as staged portrait pictures with traditional or classical photography. With traditional or classical wedding photography, it’s unlikely that you’ll get lots of action and movement in photos, but the images shouldnít feel unnaturally forced either. The goal of photographers who prefer the traditional style is to take pictures that reflect the artistry and dignity of the wedding ceremony, with stunning lighting techniques.
Photojournalistic or Reportage
This style of photography is less about orchestrating and creating moments to capture on camera, than reporting those special moments of the day. As always, the necessary formal shots will be taken, as well as a number of spontaneous happy shots group shots during the day. The photo journalistic photographer is all about immortalizing the spontaneous reactions and emotions of the day as they happen, rather than orchestrating and staging their images.
Black and White (Monochrome)
The black and white style is excellent for creating nostalgic and timeless photographs. Many clients appreciate how the nostalgia and mood of images can be enhanced by removing colour. Everyone has a different preference. Some people really don’t like monochrome images, but black and white photographs can tend to enhance the feeling of atmosphere when done well, helping to focus attention on the subjects of the images. Sometimes colour can fail to portray the atmosphere of a photo, where monochrome techniques can really bring it to life.
Colour Popped and HDR Techniques
This photography technique requires excellent attention to detail from the outset, while both taking the shots and throughout the processing stage. The photographer that uses HDR and colour popped techniques will use them sparingly, only with the right images, to maximise the impact of those colour popped or high dynamic scenes.
